Frank L. Patterson, 82, of West Chester, died Saturday, November 25, 2023, near Richland, Iowa, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. His body has been cremated and a graveside service and celebration of his life will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established for the Kaaba Shriners. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Frank Lee Patterson was born July 21, 1941, in Albia, Iowa, the son of William Turner and Ina Belle (Buffington) Patterson. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School and attended the Kansas City Trade School. On September 5, 1965, he was united in marriage to Marsha Blegen in Oskaloosa. Frank worked for Iowa Bridge and Culvert from 1964 – 1998, ending his career as a superintendent at that job. He was a member of the West Chester Community Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Kaaba Shriners. Frank enjoyed watching NASCAR, woodworking and working on and racing cars, spending time with his grandkids and participating in parades with the Kaaba Shriners.
Survivors include his wife Marsha of West Chester, three children: Melissa (Matt) Doud of West Chester, Mark Patterson (Patches Breed) of Wilton, Michael (Nichole) Patterson of West Chester; three grandchildren: Darian, Chazlee and DeLanee Patterson; two great-grandchildren: Carter and Daelan Patterson; one brother Clare (Pat) Patterson of Des Moines; a sister-in-law Judy (Allen) Beaman of Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Frank in death were his parents and his in-laws Roscoe and Jeanetta Blegen.
