I had the pleasure of taking Mr.Perconte to O'Hare airport in the summer of 2001 as I was out on strike at the time and took a job driving a limo for something to do.As we drove along I asked Frank where he was going and he said he was meeting his son and they were going to California to preview the first2 episodes of the mini-series Band Of Brothers based on Stephrn Ambrose's book.I then asked him where he worked and he told me he retired from the Joliet Post Office.I said you.re kidding!!! He asked why do you ask?I said my dad retired from there too! He asked what was my dad's name and I told him everybody knew him as Monk Fisher. I had goose bumps as big as pimples just knowing that I had a REAL AMERICAN HERO in my limo that day!I told him that my generation owed guys like him my father and my father-in-law a debt that would be very hard to repay!! Now you've earned your eternal rest Mr Perconte and I shall always remember the day I met you and found out that you worked with my dad

I just want to send my heart felt condolences to the family of Frank Perconte. Nobody needs to tell you how many people he touched with his charismatic smile and quick witted charm. For those of us who had the honor to talk to him, we will never forget our time with him. I smiled from ear to ear for the entire time as we looked at a war time photo album and as Frank looked at the men he served with he would tell a story for nearly everyone in each photo. Photos that he had most likely had never seen, he new almost all the faces of the Men of Easy Co. Frank will never be forgotten! Rest easy sir!
