Laura (Laurie) Cataldo

February 13, 2013

I remember Uncle Frank with such fondness... He visited often, at my Nana and Grandpa Cataldo's house (Lena and Santo Cataldo) when we (Ralph and Barbara Cataldo - children Linda, Laura and Rick) came over for family visits. Aunt Tillie and Uncle John lived downstairs in the same house and all of us would sit around the dining room table and have Sunday dinner together. When Uncle Frank was there, he filled the house with great laughter, singing, and a lot of stories. I also remember a lot of Italian treats and bits and pieces of Italian spoken here and there. He was a wonderfully generous and gentle man, with hugs for all of us and a sincerity that let you know how much he loved and cared about all of us in the family. My husband (Mark Ginevan) and I visited with Uncle Frank and Aunt Marge down in Plymouth not long ago when we came up for a visit from Maryland and stayed with my sister Linda and her husband (Gary Doody) in New Hampshire. I will miss Uncle Frank and truly treasure the time we spent with him. I hope he is enjoying a glass of red wine and a Nana Cataldo famous cannoli up in heaven along with my parents and other members of the Cataldo family.

I am so sorry to hear about Uncle Frank's passing. I will miss his phone calls when he wanted to check in with me - thank goodness Margie came to his rescue while we tried to talk on the phone. Francis, I haven't seen you in years but your Dad always filled me in on what you were doing. I am sorry I won't be able to make the service on MOnday due to work but know that you are all in my thoughts. May Uncle Frank have a ball as he meets up with my parents, Paul and Ida and they enjoy a wonderful Italian meal and talk of old times. Both my brothers are out of town but I will be sure to tell them.

Francis, Marjorie and family:

Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time for all of you.
I have such fond childhood memories of Frank with Sadie and Francis-being treated like a king with Sunday morning breakfasts at the Statler Hilton, Aunts Tilly and Lena come to mind and especially those Christmas walkie-talkies that Frank made sure Jordan Marsh delivered on time and of course, the fruit store in Hyde Park and then Roslindale. He always called our home on Cotton Street "la casa debache" (sp?) which I know meant crazy house. His loyal friendship endured until my parents passed away in 2011. I don't need to tell you how kind and generous your father/husband was and meant so much to my entire family.
May he now rest in peace with Sadie.
