I met Frank in about 1957 or so, when he visited our family in San Francisco while on military leave. I was about 6 years old at the time. My father (Adam Schott) and Frank's father (Franz Reitter) grew up together in Heufeld, Yugoslavia -- they were best friends. My father survived the war, but Franz did not. He was reported missing in action in May 1945.
While looking through some old photos today I came across a picture of Franz from about 1942. I thought about getting in contact with Frank, but learned instead of his passing. Please accept my condolences.

The best way I can describe Frank is Grace. I worked at North American Philips Conssumer Electronics Corporation in Knoxville from 1980 thru 1986. Linda and I were over at Frank's and Gail's home for dinner. After all these years Linda remembered both of them and the wonderful hosts they were.,
As an immigrant myself under quite different circumstances I love the story about Frank's background and how he from those challenged beginnings became the person he did. Frank rarely talked about himself, he was always interested in the other person's story.
Gail, you and your family are in our thoughts.

Merciful Lord, grant him eternal rest, and may your perpetual light shine on him and on all our beloved departed, until we meet again and are with you forever in blessed eternity.

Gail & family,

So sorry to hear of Frank's passing. I will surely miss his smiling face at the Cantata Singers concerts. You will be in my prayers. "No one dies as long as there's someone to remember and when there's no one to remember, it doesn't matter, for we will all be together again."

My deepest condolences,
