Frank Rivas Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 25, 2025.
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Frank Rivas, who departed this life on February 20, 2025, in Santa Cruz, California.

Frank was born in 1929 in Mountain View, California, and lived there his entire life. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, Frank was an avid and competitive league bowler, actively participating in the Santa Clara Valley Bowling Association. He dedicated his time to the community as the Scout Master of the Stanford Council Troop 84. He strongly advocated for fellow veterans, serving as the Adjutant, Commander, and Past Commander for the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

Frank shared his passion for God and the Catholic Church with his wife of 64 years, Julia, both serving as Eucharistic ministers at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Mountain View. His devotion extended to the fraternal order of the Knights of Columbus, where he volunteered for educational, charitable, religious, and social welfare initiatives. He achieved the honors of the Fourth Degree and served as the Faithful Navigator and Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus Saint Sebastian Council #4926. Frank enjoyed working with the basketball free throw competition and organizing pizza days for local Catholic schools.

Frank is fondly remembered by his sons, Anthony and David Rivas, and their wives, Margarett and Victoria; his daughter, Annette Bay, and her husband, Steven; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jenna, David, Shawnee, Nichole, Meghan, Allen, Austin, Brian, Hailey, Charlotte, and Lucas.

Frank was a man of bravery, conviction, and love who rose to the occasion for his country, family, friends, and God. May he rest in peace.

Memorial Mass is held on March 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, 582 Hope Street, Mountain View, California.

Interment begins at 12:30 p.m. at Gates of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Los Alto, California.
