Rest in peace Monsignor Wissel. He was the best psychology and home room teacher at St. Pascal Babylon High School. Had a great sense of humor and a big heart. He was good friends to my brother and sister-in-law James & Carole Kababik. Their children loved the fun tricks he did like pulling a coin from their ears. They still remember his kindness.

Frank Wissel was a fellow alumnus of mine at St. Francis Prep in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated in 1956, the year after me. I joined the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn, but he waited awhile to follow his vocation to the priesthood. Frank was a good friend of the Franciscan Brothers. The people of the Diocese of Bridgeport have lost a kind and gentle priest, too soon. May he rest in peace.

Dear Msgr. Wissel, there are no words that can express the sadness that all of your flock feel at the sudden loss of our Shepherd. We were resigned to let you retire but always assumed that we could visit & once again hear a joke or a pearl of wisdom.God called you home knowing that you were weary & longed for His comfort.Although for us it was much too soon, we are sure that you are at peace & no longer suffering. Thank you Father, mentor, teacher, confessor, advisor, brother ,role model & friend. No one can replace you.....you are Love. Xoxo The Altomaro Family

Monsignor, I remember when you used to imitate Ralph, from the honeymooners. You were hilarious. I will never forget you.
Of course you were from Brooklyn. Thank you very much for everything you did for me. Even though I wasn't with you on your last days. I've been thinking about you everyday. Your heart was weak because you gave it to all your people.
Thank you Monsignor.

Dear Msgr. Wissel - First memory of you coming to St. Mary's Parish in 1997 is one of kindness and compassion. You assured me the commute to my new job from Greenwich to Bridgeport would be safe as it was going to be a "mild winter". I've enjoyed all your encouraging homilies and wonderful articles written in Greenwich Citizen. You will be dearly missed by all and will always remain in our hearts. Love & Peace

Msgr. Wissel was an extraordinary priest and a good friend for many years. I was privileged to work on an Emmaus weekend with him when he was principal at Kolbe Cathedral High School. I met many of the young men who lived at his Kolbe House of Studies and wrote about them for the NY Times and Sacred Heart magazine, and, much later, I had the good sense to hire him to write a weekly column for the Greenwich Citizen. Msgr. Frank, you did good work and now may you rest in peace.
