Ed, I was in Pgh for the 112th TFG reunion, but did not get the word til I was almost out of town. I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing, but glad there's no more suffering. Thankful I got to see the two of you a year ago at the General's retirement ceremony, (got a copy of the pic?) with happy faces. Also, the picture submitted here is a nice reminder of how he kept us guessing as to what he was up to. May he rest in peace with a smile on his face.

My Dad, I will always have so many memories that I will cherish and hold in my heart forever! I was so proud of my Father and all his life accomplishments. His military career often took him on trips and I remember waiting for him to come home. He always looked so professional in his military gear and I was so proud to tell others what my Dad did for a living. I will miss him terribly and will always remember his smile and laugh. Dad, peace be with you...until we meet again.

My father Frank loved life. He spent over 11,000 hours in the air on missions while working for the US Military. He dedicated his life to working to support a family of 7 children. Although we did not get to enjoy him as much when we were growing up, at least we were blessed to have him for 73 years. We will miss him and no doubt his legacy will live on. Proud to be the son of Franklin E. Sawl.

I wanted to add some pictures of pap here - i encourage others to do the same... Also wanted to tell a couple of golf stories I have with my Pap Sawl.
At Ponderosa Golf course one early morning with Pap, Pap's friend, and myself; we ventured off into the course. The first hole went well and on the second hole I shot the best tee shot of of my life. Straight down the middle and the golf ball stayed on top of the hill as if it was held there by an angel... So I get to my next shot on the hill, get out of my cart and hit a beautiful shot right onto the green. Pap even seen it and said "great shot, you're on teh green Bern". I was so excited, then i turned around and my cart was GONE !!! It rolled all the way down the hill and then off the course. When I finally caught up to Pap and told him what happened he laughed harder than I ever thought he could... Memories of Pap :-)
2nd Story
Same golf course different day / different hole. Off the tee, I hit and lost 15 golf balls eventually i just took a drop from pap's hit. He couldn't stop laughing once again.
:-)
I will always hold these memories of pap laughing and having fun together

I remember when you moved to Greenfield from Baden. All that meant to me then was: More Friends to Play With! So saddened to hear of the loss of your husband, father, and grandfather. My prayers are with you all now.

Seeing Uncle Frank's picture brings many tears but also calls to mind his distinctive chuckle/giggle, which makes me smile. May God bless Uncle Frank with the eternal reward of being with Him in Heaven. Your life-long friend and my dad, Bob Sheffo, Sr. is there to take you fishing. Thank you for letting Airman Sheffo (me) fly along with the refueling wing on a 1981 mission over SC. That was fun!

My heart goes out to you at this time and in the days ahead. As we grew up we were told to respect our elders and even though he was not our real uncle, I always thought of him as My uncle because of his relationship with my Father Robert Sheffo. He will be forever missed.

Dear Aunt Annamarie and all my cousins,
So sorry to hear about Uncle Frank. I remember when he visited our family in Puerto Rico and brought me a doll. I also remember all the fun times my brother and I had staying at your house and Uncle Frank sitting in his chair and reading the paper!
May God put His loving arms around you all and give you comfort that Uncle Frank is up in heaven with his Savior!
Love,
Angie

Dear Anna Marie,
May God comfort you and your family.
Sometimes mere words just aren't enough to take away our grief, so we rely on God for help and strength in our belief. May He uplift you and take the sorrow that you bear.
