I have many fond memories of Mr. Finch. I am sorry to hear of his passing. As a new teacher graduating from Carthage College, Mr. Finch gifted me a huge amazing Dictionary. I showcased that in my classroom for my 35 years of teaching. It was my staple. I admired him and Shirley so much. They were the most welcoming people in their home, and I loved them deeply. I'm sorry for your loss. They were both so dear to me, as was Scott Finch. May your memories of your dad be a staple of the amazing family man he was. God Bless his soul.

I'm sorry to hear this. Mr. Finch was an amazing person and actually gave me my first major dictionary to add to my new classroom when I became a teacher. Please know I remember him so fondly. Such great memories cooking with him in the Glenview house when I was with Scott. I always loved loved the Finch Family. I hope that you are all doing well. Being brought up by Fred and Shirley must have been the best upbringing ever.
late sympathies but with utmost love, Sandra Vanderstappen

Fred was definitely "one of a kind!" I´ll never forget the evening he rang our bell then charged through our house in combat boots, shorts, a Kaiser WW I helmet, waving a butterfly net above his head as he "helped" us search for our daughter´s escaped gerbil! At the end of the night the score was Gerbil 1, Fred 0, but what fun we had! Fred was funny, creative, a loyal friend, and dedicated family man. How lucky I was to share in his life in a small way.
