FRED J.
Age 66, of the Hill District, peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. Beloved father of Rochelle (John) Hodges-McCoy, Fred J. Hodges, Jr., Brennan Hodges, and the late Jerome Hodges; brother of John Gerald Hodges; he is also survived by a host grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, other relatives and friends. Visitation Wednesday 5 to 9 p.m. (Masonic Service to begin at 7 p.m.), in the COSTON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 427 Lincoln Ave., East Liberty. Funeral Service on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Macedonia Baptist Church, 2225 Bedford Ave., 15219.

To the Hodges Family I extend my deepest sympathy in your loss. Fred will truly be missed. I had the great pleasure of working with him at the Housing Authority Police Department. I had the pleasure of being one of Fred's partners in the late 80's. I learned a lot from Fred. I will always remember that booming voice, great laugh and infectious smile. Thank you to the Hodges family for sharing Fred with us all these years. May God give you all strength to see you through your loss.

Fred and I go back to Francis Street and Christian Tabernacle Church. Aunt Lizzie would bring him and John to church. We are the same age and during our late teens, he, John, Jimmy, Buster, and several other guys were always hanging out together. His Chevy Bel Air and my Chevy Corvair took us to many adventures around the Pittsburgh area.
I can still hear his hearty laugh and remember his upbeat personality. The years and distance affected our time together, but when we talked, the smile and the positive personality were still there, despite all he was going through.
To Fred's family - please know that he will be missed. I pray that God will bless you with His peace in the midst of these difficult times for you.
