Fred Jex Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 3 to May 4, 2023.
We are deeply saddened to announce the death of our father, Jon Fred Jex. He passed away on Saturday April 29, 2023, at the age of 70. Fred was larger than life. He grew up in Provo with 8 siblings, served an LDS church mission in Ireland and later served faithfully as a bishop and stake president. He spent over 20 years serving in the Army, retiring as a Major in the Wyoming National Guard. He loved the military. Fred worked his entire career in building and construction. He loved the outdoors and the mountains, whether backpacking with the high adventure scouts, hunting, fly fishing or riding his bike in century races. Above all, Fred cherished his family and is survived by Denee Robinson Jex and their 5 children and families, which includes 9 grandchildren. Sjani Boggs (Ryan Boggs, children Atticus and Eleanor), Myra Jex (daughter Madisyn), Eliza Jex, David Jex (Erin Jex, children Carson, Emma and Joely), and Justin Jex (Gretchen Jex, children Lucas, Austin and Alexis). A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 am and funeral services will follow at 11:00 am, at 7250 N Porters Crossing Pkwy, Eagle Mountain, UT 84005. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Fred's name to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org.

Lives are better because of the amazing people we meet and share moments of life together. Fred is a tremendous individual and touched the life of my family.

I was able to watch his funeral service online while serving in Indiana. I'm grateful for the blessing of technology and to be able to see my family. Everytime I listen to country music I think of my Uncle Fred. I'm grateful for his example to me and to be able to say he's family. I'm grateful for the Plan of Happiness and that God is graceful and merciful.

Fred always called me his big brother because he didn't have one. We were both working on construction sites, spent time together fishing and loved our families. Fred, Deb and I either called or zoomed almost every for the last couple of years.
Fred loved working on the Saratoga Springs temple and was looking forward to working on the Salt Lake City Temple.

Jonathan Oldroyd

My name is Jonathan Oldroyd. I am an architect who worked with Fred on the Mormon Battalion Historic Site and the Saratoga Springs Temple. I am very sad to hear of his passing. His work was of the highest quality and dependability. His talent for building has touched the lives of many and will continue to do so for many years to come. I will remember Fred more so because of his kindness, and the way he treated me and everyone he met. You always felt good in his presence and he never had anything bad to say.
My heart and prayers go out to his family and loved ones. May God bless you!

I am very sorry to hear of this. Fred was a great friend, mentor to me in the time we worked together. Always positive, complimentary & full of life, always able to find the humor in any situation. I hope you're able to focus on all the love & joy he bought into your lives as well. Best wishes to you all going forward.

Hello. My name is Chris Rhead Hatch. Denae and I were good pals back at BYU. We also got to be together in Fort Collins. We got to enjoy being together with our children. I have great memories of going to your house Denae, every Halloween to pick out costumes for our children to wear for that year.

I got to work with Fred in the church for a while. I have great memories of him.

I sent much love to the entire family.

Chris Rhead Hatch.

Ray and Barbara Hickman loved being in the company of Fred and Denee. He was truly a good man and actually taught me how to make rolls which he learned in the service. I thought that was quite something for such a manly man. We loved all of his children. Just miss knowing what´s going on in their lives now. Our condolences and blessings.
