Daddy,I'll miss you when I go back to work. I won't have to save you a cookie or make you a wine cooler anymore. It will be strange not seeing you walking down the hall with mom or watchimg TV in your room. All my coworkers have told me how much they will miss you. LOVE BETH xxxooo

Unfortunately, I did not know Fred in his 'hey day'. I meet him after his illness had set in. Yet and still I was fortunate to meet him and grew to know him as fiesty at times but a kind, loving soul. He will surely be missed by many. My condolences to his family and lots of love.

Col Johnson was a friend of mine and most all from the 104 TFG. Fred a a pilot that I strapped into his F-86 Saber Jet Fighter. Fred was with us in France for a year and preformed his duties well. People like Freddy Johnson come once in a lifetime.
My deepest condolences to his entire family. A real American hero who will be missed.

Our condolenses and deepest sympathies to the Johnson family from the Raina family. As aircraft maintenance supervisor I will always remember Fred as one of our best pilots during his tenure with the 104th fighter group. In particular his exceptional courage and ability to fly his aircraft for over an hour without a canopy to bring it safely into Hickam AFB,when it was normal proceedure to bail out under the circumstances. We put the aircraft back into service and it was used for the complete remaining time of our four month deployment. This feat added to our reputation and saved the government a million plus dollars.
He was also known for his expertise and prowess as one of the original Thunderbolt acrobatic team member.

I never met Fred Sr., but work with and am good friends with his son Fred and feel like I know Senior first-hand - though the many stories Fred Jr. past onto me. The world has lost a true hero, but more importantly, my friend and his extended family have lost a man who was bigger than life itself. I pray their void will be filled with fond memories and that Fred Johnson's life continue to inspire us all for decades to come.
My deepest sympathy to Fred's family and his rock of gibralter -Betty.
Love, Joe Haggerty

My father, Sylvester Burke, was a very good friend of Fred senior. I recall their days at the YMCA VAC club with great fondness. They played a lot of racquet ball together and had great laughs over the years. My deepest sympathy goes out to your family.
