Lodi - Maikisch, Fred J.,62, of Lodi, New Jersey passed away on Saturday September 15, 2018. Devoted husband of Susan Maikisch (nee Piper). Loving father of Melanie and Justin Maikisch. Dear brother of Theresa & her husband Joe Sexton. Also survived by many cousins and friends. Fred was a member of the Lodi Old Timers Assocation and a coach for the Lodi Little League for over 20 years. He was a salesman at IKEA in Paramus for 5 years. He was also a huge Giants fan, so to honor his memory please feel free to wear your Giants' blue! Funeral Wednesday at 10AM from the Santangelo Funeral Home, 300 Main Street, Lodi, New Jersey. Funeral Mass 11AM St. Francis de Sales Church. Cremation Private. Friends will be received Tuesday 3 - 7PM at Santangelo Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Fred's name. Arrangements under the direction of Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. My deepest condolences to Sue, Melanie, Justin, and to all who loved Fred J. Maikisch. Your husband, father and what ever relationship you have with him, Fred was a good man and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. I want to tell you a story about the kind of guy Fred was. I met Freddie shortly after I got out of the USMC active duty and landed a job in the Media Library at HBO. Fred was in charge of the Shipping Dept. at the time. Long story short, I screwed up in the Media Library and was likely on my way out the door but Freddie gave me an opportunity to work for him in Shipping. I didn't disappoint him. All these years later, I'm still working at HBO. I'm in the Install Dept. now. I'm married with two kids and living in my own home. Freddie's act of understanding and kindness had a major affect on my life going forward from that one moment among many and I will be forever grateful. One more thing. If Saint Peter isn't a Giants fan, he will be once he meets Freddie. By the way, did I mention that Freddie took me to my first Giants game? Yes he did. He also introduced me to this strange but fun ritual called tailgating. You will be missed Mr. Fred J. Maikisch.
