Age 70 ~ Passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in Minneapolis Fred was a 1960 graduate of Saint Paul Central High School, a veteran of the United States Navy, and a retired employee of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. Freddie, as he was known affectionately by family and friends, loved the outdoors, especially fishing, was known widely for his sharp pool playing skills, and his quick, witty, intelligent sense of humor. Fred is survived by son, Fred Albert McGee, Jr., grandchildren, Freddie III, Vanessa and Ashley, daughter-in-law, Michelle, five great-grandchildren, two brothers, Milton Lafayette McGee (Laf) and Granville Olen McGee (Skip), two sisters, Helen Judkins Keller and Marlene McGee Carter, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Josie and Granville McGee, and two brothers, Perry Glennon McGee and Earl Wayman McGee. A Memorial Service will be held for Fred on Friday, October 19, 12:00p.m., at Saint James AME Church, 624 W. Central Ave., St. Paul. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held following the memorial service, at Dunning Field Recreation Center, 2:00 p.m., 1221 Marshall Ave, St. Paul.

Freddie always had that huge grin and a big, loud HELLO for everyone that came to or walked through his park. A visit with Freddie always put you in a positive mood. We have missed him since he retired and will always see that smile. Bob Nielsen, Maintenance Foreman, Minneapolis Park Board.
