To all of us in his Scout troop 71, he was a loving, fair, honest, and caring father figure to whom we all looked up. He laughed easily. He expected us to behave honestly and responsibly. He molded many young men's lives. Cadillacs on our camping trips. He did things in style. He loved his wife, he told the truth, he was prepared, and he was kind. He was a real man. Thank you Mr Scoby.

While he was only my father-in-law for a short time, he gave me a lifetime of memories. He was a good man, one who loved his family immensley. Having lost my father just a year ago, I feel the pain and the grief you are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Scobey family during this difficult time.

Sending prayers and great love to the family and friends of Fred Scobey. May you find comfort and gentleness in this season. Fred, often known as Dad to me was a man with great love, kindness and heart of service. He was a great example to his children and their spouses of patience, tolerance and how to have a gentle but commanding presence. Also how to fish, to enjoy good music and many family memories. He forever touched our lives and is taking part in a great family reunion and will be there when our time comes to go home. God bless you all.

Please accept my deepest condolences to Mr. Scobey's family and friends. Mr. Scobey was my Scoutmaster and a mentor during my childhood, from 1979-1988. I had the fortune of serving as his scout, Senior Patrol Leader, and -for a short while- his Jr. Assistant Scoutmaster. He was always relentlessly direct and honest, but I always knew where I stood. At the same time, he allowed us boys to be boys. This freedom to explore, learn about ourselves, and build friendships set the stage for what would become some of my most reflected on memories. Last, John and Dave were my friends and hearing of their loss, years ago, was a real blow. I am certain they are now in good company.
Sincerely,
Brian McCabe, Lake Hollywood

To the entire Scobey family I send you my condolences. Not only was your father a huge role model in my life but all of you reside in countless anecdotes and memories that continue to be a source of brightness in my life. "The Troop" was your dad, and his kindness was bestowed in all of our lives. After several years of summer camp, not catching a fish, I asked your dad how he caught so many. He taught me the Carolina Rig which I still use at Lake Mamie almost every year I can get away. The memories from that time come rushing back. Although we are sad to learn of his passing, I hope you all enjoy celebrating his life, his memory will never dim. Mr. Scobey lives on in our hearts and minds and good works!
