SHERSTOBITOFF, Fred Semion Fred passed away peacefully from pneumonia complications at his home at Covenant Health Edmonton General on May 17, 2010, at the age of 90. The family thanks all the staff for the great care provided. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. In passing he leaves; son Sam (Jill) Sherstobitoff of Edmonton, grandson Casey (Agata), great grandson Ashton Sherstobitoff of Calgary; granddaughter Celena (Mark), great grandson Samuel Kuhlmann of San Marcos, Texas; son Lorne (Leslie), granddaughters Amy and Megan Sherstobitoff of Edmonton; granddaughter Shantel (Erwin Koehn), great granddaughter Taylor Stewart of Calgary; predeceased by wife Polly (Kouznitsoff); son Wayne; parents Fanny (Perehudoff) and Semion Sherstobitoff of Riverhill; brother Nick (Vera) Sherstobitoff of Saskatoon; brother Peter (Dorothy) Sheers of London, ON: sister Ann (Nick) Rebin of Saskatoon, Sister Mabel (Peter) Cheveldayoff of Blaine Lake, sister Hazel (Eugene) Martin of Saskatoon: grandparents Polly and George Sherstobitoff of Riverhill; great grandfather Grigory A. Sherstobitoff, of Riverhill; great great grandfather Alexie A. Sherstobitov, Slavianka, Russia. Fred went to Gilles and Marcelin schools obtaining his Grade 8. He loved school but was unable to go back for his father wanted him working on the farm. He married Polly and raised 3 boys. As a young man he curled, played baseball and hockey. He assisted in coaching Blaine Lake pony league baseball team to a provincial championship. He spent the majority of his life farming. He was a good carpenter and built a home for his mother. He loved the outdoors, socializing and enjoyed playing the accordion. They later moved to Saskatoon where he worked and retired from Porteous Lodge. His final years were spent in Edmonton close to his sons. A Memorial Service will be held at the Saskatoon Doukhobor Prayer Home, 525 Avenue I South, Saskatoon SK, S7M 1Y6 on Sunday June 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Jeanette Stringer officiating. Lunch will follow the service. Honorary Pallbearers: Casey Sherstobitoff, John Boychuk, George Sherstobetoff, Andy Lappas, Randy Sherin, Peter Kouznitsoff. Norman Rebin is speaking in his Uncle Fred's memory. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations be made to the Doukhobor Society of Saskatoon Scholarship Fund. Cremation arrangements entrusted to First Memorial Funeral Services, Edmonton, Alberta.
