A dear Brother Mason, Shriner, Police Officer, MEMIC Investigator and close friend that I miss terribly. So many great times working together and enjoying him and other friends at his hunting camp. My wife and I miss the fun times with Fred and Diane when they visited us and the Arnold's in Belgrade and later in Florida where we all wintered. He was a true friend and the funniest jokester I have ever met. He had a lot of one liners that would put you into stitches and a heart as big as a house. The thing about getting older is knowing I will see you again Fred- keep a place set for me at HIS table. God Bless you Diane -Love, Roy

It is hard to think five years have passed since we had Fred with us. We think of him often and think back of all the great times we had with him and Diane. But I figure it this was, it is five years closer to when I will see him again.

God Bless you Diane and all your family - Love, Roy & April

Fred...You was most definitely one of my favorite residents and such a joy to everyone here at Winterhaven. You're awesome sense of humor alone made my day and still does everyday. That picture of you sitting on a toilet out in the front yard is still on my fridge that I wake up to every morning. Even though that first vote at coffee and donuts is going to be awkward but I know everyone there is going to feel the warmth of your presence. It was such a great pleasure and honor to have known you. Dianne my thoughts and prayers are with you.Rest In Peace my friend.

My deepest condolences to Barbara, Dianne, Freddie's sons and grandchildren on his passing. Freddie was part of the fabric that made up the cloth of our childhood memories, growing up in Machias. Lots of nice memories of visiting at the Clarke's home when I was a youngster. I thought my best friend had the cutest brother ever! I'm sure he will be greatly missed by all who knew him! R.I.P, Freddie.

Although I haven't talked to Fred for years, I was proud to have been able to call him a friend and mentor. I am sure he has found a bike already and is enjoying a ride with other original Blue Knight members. RIP Fred

My thoughts and prayers are with Fred's entire family and many friends. There is going to be one BIG reunion up above as he joins quite the group of LE officers and friends we have lost from this Earth in the past couple of years! A life well lived and lost far to soon. God Bless!

There, in my opinion, will never be another Fred. His tenacity was only balanced by his humanity and made all the more special by his humilty and enormous sense of humor. The 10 years I worked with Fred at MEMIC were some of the most memorable. He would always talk lovingly of his wife, Diane, the kids and, especially the grandkids. The loss his family will endure is most unkind. Our hearts are with all of you. Your Friends at MEMIC

Dianne and family please accept our deepest sympathies. Fred was a great friend and neighbor. As sick as he has been he always maintained the quick wit and sense of humor. My favorite golf memory with Fred was when we were playing Pinehurst no. 8 with his pals from Maine. On the 18th hole Freddie hit a shot right and it was close to the 17th tee. His next shot he skulled and who knows where it would have ended up but it hit the flag and pole wrapped around the flag went down the pole and in the hole. Fred started hollering and raised his arms people on the porch realized what had just happened and they all stood up and clapped acknowledging the great result of the shot.Rest in Peace my friend.

Dear Diane and family. Words of sorrow are my first thoughts but I know Fred well enough to say he would not want that. He was too upbeat for anything except laughing and knowing his trials here are over. I cannot help but smile as I think of all our hunting camp adventures over the years and his jokes. I will miss our cribbage tournaments at camp but will try again to win one when I see him again.

Sincere Love, Roy & April Gallant

Dianne, Fred, and Scott,
It is with great sadness that I learn of Fred's passing. I had the highest respect for Fred and I considered him a good friend. I have many fond memories of him on the police force, at hunting camp, the poker games, the softball tournaments, and so much more. Life is never the same when you lose someone so special. He will be missed. My sincere condolences to you and your family.
