Frederick Edmund Dwyer Jr., of Andover, formerly of Scituate, died June 3, 2014, at age 85. Beloved husband of Mary (Erwin) Dwyer, wife of 61 years, he was the loving father of Stephen Dwyer and his wife Lyn of Andover, and Suzanne Dwyer of Brooklyn, N.Y.; devoted grandfather of Andrew Dwyer of Boston, Cameron and Connor Dwyer of Andover, and Caiden and Nola Dwyer Hernandez of Brooklyn; dearest brother-in-law of Christine Erwin of Quincy, the late Francis Erwin; and 5 cherished nieces. Fred was born and raised in Weymouth. After graduating from Sacred Heart High School, he entered the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. After his military service, Fred worked in Western Massachusetts as a radio and early television personality, hosting his own program titled Freds Corner. He later worked in advertising at the Harold Cabot Agency in Boston. Fred spent the last 22 years of his career as a marketing manager at Stone & Webster Engineering, where he enjoyed leading the annual Summer Seminar program for energy company executives. Fred served as a faithful Lector for St. Marys Parish for more than 30 years. He was also active on the town of Scituate Advisory Committee. Funeral at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, Monday, June 9, at 9 a.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate, at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Saddened to hear of the passing of Fred Dwyer. A good man well remembered here. My sincere condolences go out to his wife Mary, his daughter Suzanne, his son Stephen and all his grandchildren, relatives and friends, too numerous to mention in this space.

Joe and I were so very sorry to hear about Mr. Dwyer. I remember those nights when the poker games would be in full force at the Stauffs, with the Whalens also there. My two children loved staying over Papa's on those nights!!! Many wonderful memories - Our prayers and thoughts are with you all at this time.
