Frederick Mercer
Frederick L. Mercer, 72, of Granite City, Ill., born Nov. 11, 1931, in Granite City, Ill., died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at his residence.
Mr. Mercer was employed with Ameren UE as a general manager metropolitan distribution. He was a 1961 graduate of Washington University with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He was a member of the Institute of Electrical Engineering; and the Boy Scouts of America and earned the Silver Beaver Award in 1980; and a vigil member of Order of the Arrow. Mr. Mercer was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War.
Mr. Mercer was preceded in death by his parents, Arlie and Virgie Irene, nee Cluntz, Mercer; and a brother, Arlie M. Mercer.
Surviving are his wife, Faye E., nee Dodd, Mercer, whom he married Dec. 23, 1952, in Granite City, Ill.; a son, Michael A. (Lora) Mercer of Collinsville, Ill.; two grandsons, Reece and Bryce Mercer of Collinsville, Ill.; and a brother, Harold Mercer of Granite City, Ill.
Memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America for Granite City Youth.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2004, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, Ill., with the Rev. Donald Stratton officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Edwardsville, Ill.
