So sorry to learn of Freddie's passing. The last time that I saw, and spoke to him, was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Jefferson, as he tended the flowers on his loving wife's grave, which he did so faithfully for ten years. He told me at that time that Pauline wanted FRESH flowers so he was carrying out her wishes. Pauline was one my teachers at JCS. Freddie and Pauline were close friends of my parents, Ken and Marge Dayton, and did many things together over the years. Mother and Pauline loved to hike and climbed Mt. Marcy when Mother was in her 60's. Pauline and Mother enjoyed flower arranging and entered the Flower Show at SUNY Cobleskill. I don't remember if either of them won a prize or not. Saturday nights Fred and Pauline played cards with my parents and other neighborhood couples. Fred and Dad went hunting together at South Lake every fall for many years. Freddie will surely be missed. My prayers and thoughts are with at this difficult time.

We were loved by Pauline and Fred and extend our sincere sympathy to their family. They took us into their world when Ed started working in the Jefferson school ... we have so many fond memories. We stayed with the Schmidts after our house was packed for our last overnight in the area back in 1985. After that Fred always enjoyed our visits when we were in the area - we'll truly miss him...God Bless You Fred.

I am very sorry to hear of Fred's passing. He was one of the last of the "old guard" that I remember from my childhood. Now I can tell the story of how we used to use the red barn on his property for apple on a stick fights. He probably wondered how all those apples got in his barn. He owned the only property in North Harpersfield where you could see the whole town. Fred and his unique laugh will be missed.

I knew that Fred was terminally ill, but it is still a shock to hear that he has died. He was a fine person, always very pleasant and friendly. He had such a nice smile and gentle laugh. Fred and Pauline were always very kind to us as I was growing up across the road from them in N. Harpersfield. Their phone was our phone. My mother used to baby sit over there. I have many happy memories of growing up in N. Harpersfield and knowing Fred & Pauline. All of Fred's descendants , you are lucky to have been in his family. All my love, Frances McMullen Fishlock of Tully, NY
