To the Sweeney Family,
Mr. Sweeney was my teacher at Libby High School in the late 60's, he was a great man and very well respected. I actually babysat Chris when he was 8 mos. old. Mr. Sweeney will be missed dearly, it's been a long time since I graduated but when I think back to my high school days he is the first teacher to come to mind. My sympathies to the family, take care.

I would like to send my condolences and share my thoughts. I was a student of Fred's at Libbey HS. His excellence in teaching (human physiology) gave me a great knowledge base for my training as a paramedic. I was later a client of his (just house closings and such). He was very proud of his sons, and would always have something to brag about them every time I saw him. Each time I stopped in his office, as we both loved photography, he would pull out a new photo album to share with me. His photos are excellent. It is unfortunate for me that our contacts have been few, but with every one, he would take the time to share a new photograph, or a story. Fred was a very strong, positive influence on my life. He will be missed.

To the Sweeney family,
Was shocked to hear of Fred's passing from Miriam. I talked to Fred at the Southview's alumni basketball games this past year and he seemed very happy. He helped me in a divorce a while back and got me through a pretty rough time. I enjoyed talking basketball with him especilly after the Northview games that Tim played in. We then had some fun playing ball at a Sylvania Church. Tim, Chris and Fred were quite a team in three on three. He was a wonderful man and will be missed by a lot of people. Richard Timm

To Fred's Family: What a loss to the legal community, his clients, and to those who were fortunate enough to know him. I met him when I was deputy in charge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. He brought honor to the legal profession, but more than that, Fred was a gentleman who lived life to the fullest and loved his family. I remember how he loved to fish and scuba dive. He will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

To the Sweeney Family;
We have known Fred for over 20 years. There has never been a time that he did not have time for us if we needed his help or advice. He was truly one of a kind. His stories made you feel like you were old friends from day one. We were just stunned to hear of his passing. He will be sadly missed.
He left a legacy that will be difficult for anyone to fill. May all of our furbies welcome him home. His compassion was endless and He is loved.

The world has lost a truly good man. He was my teacher, coach and even though I was just his student he was a friend. I'm glad that he found time for the things he loved to do. While his presence in my life was brief, I'm sure the Lord has approved the lasting impact that he made in my life.

As I have read through all the beautiful entries in this guest book, I want to thank each and every one of you for your kind words. I have been Fred's secretary for 27 years and as good as he was to you as a teacher, lawyer, mentor or friend, he was all that to me. I could never have asked for a better boss or friend. It's true - he never looked down on anyone and always tried to see the good in all. He was also the most generous man I will ever meet in my life. He loved his fishing and his trips but the most important thing in his life was his family. A greater man there will never be. My heartfelt condolences and sympathies go out to his family who have suffered the greatest loss of all. May we all be as blessed as Fred to have so many people love us. I truly believe in my heart that he is in heaven fishing right now. That makes my heart smile.

Fred left teaching to become an attorney, and a few years later I did the same thing. He loved people and served them well in both of his professions. He will be missed.

Mr Sweeney was my Teacher at Libbey High School and my Lawyer. He was a wonderful and tremendously man. In high school I learn from him how important it is to always have high academic goals. Also to be a honorable adult. He was the Basketball Coach and I was a Cheerleader. He would always tell us if we would win or lose a basketball game "Libbey High School" was still the best high school. In my adult life he was there for me as an amazing Lawyer. I could call him at his office or at his home. He would always return my calls. He was there for me 100%. He was a very kind man. I have so much respect for him. I graduate from Libbey in 1973. Whenever I would address him in person or on the phone after all these years I would still address him as " Mr Sweeney". Mr Sweeney was a gift from God. He help so many people and so many people love him. I was bless to have him in my life. I will always remember "Mr Sweeney" in my heart. My prayers are with his family.

Fred was always a very friendly guy, with humor! I was sorry to see his picture in the paper today, it seemed like a few days ago I had seen him in court, might have been last month. I always use to joke with him that all his clients were inocent, he would joke back and say, sure you don't think I would represent a guilty man. I heard other Police Officers speak kindly about him today and he will be missed!
