Frederick "Joey" Veitch

Shandaken- Joey Veitch, 28, of Shandaken died Monday in Poughkeepsie as a result of a homicide. He was born in Huntington, Long Island on October 23, 1989 the son of Frederick and Pamela Hudson Veitch. He was a graduate of Northport High School, and trained as a HVAC technician. Additionally, he was a graduate of the American Barber Institute in Manhattan. Joey and his father opened up the Phoenicia Barber Shop, a Norman Rockwell-like barber shop on Main Street Phoenicia. They have been welcomed by the community. He appreciated the beauty of the great outdoors, whether he was riding the terrain on his quad, or cruising in his speed boat. He had many talents, and enjoyed tinkering with such things as small engine repair, or an oil burner tuneup. Surviving are his parents Fred and Pam Veitch, siblings: Christian "CJ", Samantha, and Zachariah, grandparents Charles and Michele Hudson, and niece Mercy Marie. He was predeceased by grandparents: Frederich and Marie Veitch, and Dolores Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday December 11, 2017 at 1pm at the St. Francis de Sales Church 104 Main St. Phoenicia with Fr. Raphael Iannone,Cap.OFM as celebrant.
