Frederick Werner, 83, Greenwood, formerly of Kankakee, IL, died Sunday, May 18, 2003. He was born August 17, 1919 in Bradley, IL, the son of Herman C. and Julianna Toefte Werner. He married Margaret Werner on Aug. 5, 1940 in Danville; she preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 1999. He worked in the Graphic Arts Dept. as a photo engraver for 40 years, retiring in 1989. Mr. Werner resided in Bradley for 25 years, and Indiana for 55 years. He served in the Army Air Corp. as a Sergeant from 1943-1946. He was of the Methodist faith, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and he enjoyed golfing. Services: 10 a.m. Sat., May 24 at the Bradley Chapel of Schreffler Funeral Homes, Bradley, IL, with calling there from 3 to 8 p.m. Fri., May 23. Burial: Mound Grove Cemetery, Kankakee, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter Karen Peters; and granddaughter Suzanne Peters. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Roger & Sue Werner of Macomb, OK; sister Julianna Flora of AZ; brother and sister-in-law, Herman & Dorothy Werner of OH; 5 grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.
