G. NAPIER "NIP"
A long-time resident of Pittsburgh, Nip Wilson passed away at Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers, FL on December 29, 2016. He was 95 years old. Nip was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen (Thackray); and daughter, Elizabeth. Nip is survived by his son, Mark; and daughter, Mary, both of Pennsylvania; and his dear friend of 17 years, Jean Gilman, also of Shell Point. After graduating from Williams College in 1943, Nip settled in Pittsburgh to work as a broker in the family firm, Thomson and Sproull Insurance Co., where he remained until retiring in 1998. A year after the death of his wife in 1998, he moved to Florida to Shell Point Retirement Community. Nip was a decorated fighter pilot with a Naval Reserve squadron in both World War II and the Korean War. Per his request, no memorial service is planned. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Gladiolus Learning and Development Center, 10320 Gladiolus Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
