Gabriel Ingrassia Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 1, 2016.
Gabe Ingrassia, husband of 59 years, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on October 31, 2016.

Gabe was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. He was the youngest of three boys....inseparable brothers. He met Florence when he was 20 and she was 16. They married two years later and had their first of 4 children. Gabe served in the Navy when his first son, Michael, was born.

After the Navy, Gabe began working for the Lloyds of London Insurance Company as an Underwriter. From there, he worked for Sun Insurance, before a job transfer brought him to Maryland in 1962. Once in Maryland, he began working as a Commercial Field Underwriter at State Farm Insurance. He also worked his way through College....working by day and attending classes at night, at the University of Baltimore, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude as a working father of 2 boys. Gabe then went on to become a State Farm Agent, starting in Dundalk, Maryland but then moving up to Joppatowne, where his name became synonymous with insurance for the next 35 years, a reputation that still stands today. He was also instrumental in the start up of the Route 40 Association.
Gabe was an avid pilot. He spent much of his free time in the air, flying with family and friends, teaching others to fly and chartering flights for travelers.

Gabe's other interests included Scuba Diving, Rock Climbing and riding his Motorcycle. He lived his life well.
Gabe was also very active in his Church, St. Marks in Fallston, Md. He would attend Mass daily, participate in Men's bible study and was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister for the Church.
Most important though, of all of his accomplishments, is the tree of family that he and his wife Florence planted. He was an outstanding husband and father. In addition to his wife, Florence, he is survived by his children, Michael and his wife Reggie, Steven and his wife Sara, Donna and Scott and his wife Kacey. From these branches came his beautiful grandchildren, Colin, Angela, Grey, Emma, Allison, Madyson, Ava and Kensie, as well as, great grandchild, Elijah.
In addition, Gabe is survived by his brothers, Salvatore and his wife Corinne and Dominick and his wife Antoinette, as well as, many nieces and nephews.
There is not enough space to continue to talk of the impact that Gabe had on his family and all of the many friends, colleagues and others that he touched. His reach extended far and his impact was immeasurable. He was a selfless, hard working and honest man that always did everything the right way.

We will miss him greatly and strive to continue his legacy. While we are very sad that he is not here with us, we rejoice in the comfort of knowing that he has assumed his rightful place in the Kingdom of Heaven and we will see him again.

A Ceremony will be open to the public on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 10 am at St. Marks Roman Catholic Church, in Fallston, Md.

Papa.

I love you, I miss you, and I have had a few nights where you visit me in my dreams. It makes me happy to see you walking without a limp, strong and proud as ever. That's what I will always see. My grandfather, the pilot, the biker, the scuba-diver, a man of action and a man of love. Brenna and I miss you so much, and I know Elijah has seen you around our place many times because he just stares at the ceiling or certain corners and starts smiling really big. I love you.

My Uncle Gabe was a tremendous human being. A successful businessman, leader in his community, and most importantly to him, a dedicated and devoted family man. I will always remember his warmth, humor and strength of character. One of a kind!

We will truly miss Gabe. First really got to know Gabe about 7 years ago when we were hosting a Lenten Bible study. Gabe was always so kind and welcoming. He was also very humble and loved to share his knowledge of scripture. So sorry to his family and friends for the loss of our dear friend.
Much love Susan and Rick Raulie
