Just discovered Ms Gail Lumet Buckeky´s passing as I did a Google after watching a documentary she was featured. I was watching a PBS documentary Women of World War II: The Untold Stories, which featured Ms Buckley and her stories of her remembrance of the war effort back in the states and her mother LENA HORNE´s contribution to entertaining our US soldiers during wartime.
Ms Buckley was a very good writer. I read her first book on her family THE HORNES
many years ago when she wrote it.
I have some more cherish reading to finish from her other books on her family and the others on Africa American heritage and history.
God bless her soul and comfort her family.

Gail was my roommate at a Quaker boarding school in the Hudson Valley. We shared many memories then and later in life, too. My condolences to her family and May she rest in peace.

Gail and I went to boarding school together at a wonderful Quaker School in the Hudson Valley, two of the few students of color. We were both on the cheerleading team, such as it was. May she rest in peace.
