Gail Hintz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 15, 2025.
Gail Hintz entered into eternal life on 7/12/2025 in Woodland Hills, California, at the age of 61. Born in White Plains, NY she grew up in Valhalla, NY and later lived in Forest Hills, NY; Key West, FL; and Woodland Hills, CA.

Gail is survived by her devoted sister, Rosemary (Rosie) Hintz, and sister-in-law Liz Guzman of Woodland Hills. As well as her brother and sister in laws, George and Courtney Guzman. She was predeceased by her parents, DeAnne and George E. Hintz, and her sister Jeanette Soleil Hintz.

Gail's life was marked by purpose, intellect, and compassion. She was a graduate of Holy Name of Jesus School in Valhalla, NY; School of the Holy Child in Rye, NY Washington University in St. Louis, MO and Pace University Law School, White Plains, NY. As an environmental attorney for New York's Department of Environmental Conservation, Gail served for over 20 years before retiring in 2014 due to health challenges.

Diagnosed with Huntington's disease in 2013, Gail faced the degenerative illness with resilience and courage. Despite the disease's progression, she maintained her sense of humor, fierce independence, and deep love for service. Her dream of living in Key West, as a proud "Parrot Head," was fulfilled for a time before she relocated to California to be closer to family.

Gail's passion for helping others extended far beyond the courtroom. She was a certified EMT, a federal disaster response worker, and a volunteer at multiple disaster sites including Ground Zero in NYC after 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and Hurricane Sandy. She also taught as an adjunct professor at Pace Law School and brought history to life at the Philipsburg Manor historic site in Sleepy Hollow, NY.

In recent years, Gail was lovingly cared for at Ivy Park Assisted Living in Woodland Hills, where the staff learned about Huntington's disease to better support her. Despite increasing physical limitations, Gail remained a vibrant presence in her community and family.

Gail will be remembered for her boundless energy, sharp mind, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to public service. Her life made an impact far beyond what words can capture.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday Aug 9, 2025 at 10am pacific at St Mel's Catholic Church, 20870 Ventura Blvd, Woodland Hills, CA. Live-stream available: www.bit.ly/StMelTV (case sensitive). In lieu of flowers, donations or a memorial gift may be made to HDSA.org supporting Huntington's disease research or to the National Parks Foundation, www.nationalparks.org
