Gail Kopczynski Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 25, 2025.
Louisville - It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Gail Mary (Schadel) Kopczynski. Born on June 3, 1940, Gail brightened our lives with her wit, laughter, and love until she peacefully left us on September 21, 2025.

Gail's love for her family was boundless. She married Ronald John Kopczynski on February 13, 1960, and together they cherished every moment of their 65 years of marriage. They began their family in their native city of Buffalo, New York, later moving to Elkhorn, Nebraska, where they lived for several years before settling in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1980. Gail worked in merchandising for many years before retiring from Johnson & Johnson.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Ronald, and their three children: Kenneth Kopczynski of San Antonio, TX; Lynn Roty (Chris) of Lexington, KY; and Nancy McAlister (Rodger) of Louisville, KY. She is also survived by three wonderful grandchildren: Olivia Roty of Spokane, WA; Jack Roty of Nashville, TN; and Audrey Bushong of Charlotte, NC.

Gail had a special place in her heart for all dogs, and her affection for them was evident in the way she cared for and adored every furry friend she encountered. She also had a passion for shopping and could spend hours chatting on the phone or talking in person-sharing stories and creating memories with those she held dear.

As we remember Gail, let us celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the joy she brought to all who knew her. Her spirit will continue to live on in our hearts and in the memories we shared with her.

A Catholic Mass at Epiphany Catholic Church, 914 Old Harrods Creek Rd., Louisville, KY 40223 will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 11:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately after mass at The Village Crossing Retirement Community, (Located in the Lounge) 2400 Arnold Palmer Blvd, Louisville, Kentucky 40245.

I miss Gail already. We had a lot of fun in years past. Her brother Al and I went on trips with her and Ronny to Mexico and Hawaii and cruises and of course we did a lot of shopping when we visited. I´m glad she´s no longer suffering and our sympathies to the rest of her family and her friends. Til we meet in Heaven

Oh, Lynn and Nancy. I am so sorry to hear this. My heart breaks for you. I am shocked that when she moved, it would be the last time I would've seen her smile. My dog still pulls me toward her house to get a treat as if she were there.
