Gail Rhae (Wilson) Smith, age 69, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, in Tampa, Florida, on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

Gail attended Ohio University in the 1960s, finishing her degree in organizational behavior in 1992 at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.

She is survived by her son, Christopher Robert Edward Smith; daughter, Shelby Faith Mackenzie Wilson; brother, Robert Carl Wilson; grandson, Corbin Alexander Smith; and granddaughter, Charlotte Mabel Rhae Light.

Having a deep passion for fostering animals in need, those who wish may donate in her name to the Pawesome Village Rescue of New Port Richey and Purrfect Match, Inc. of Sarasota.

Gail was a fellow animal lover, a great person and a true friend. She will be missed by so many, furry friends included. A great asset to the rescue community which we can't replace. RIP, I know you are surrounded by many little 4 paws furry friends now and smiling.

I have had many, many years of experiences with Gail. Even though we were cousins, we loved, hated, fought and made up like sisters. We have shared everything!!! We had so many plans for our retirement and I will miss not sharing this season of our lives together. You are now in heaven with your parents, your babies, and Larry...love you dear girl.

Sisters are special people. You love them. You hate them. You fight with them, but fight for them. Gail and I were not as close as we should have been. She knew that I loved her and had her back. We grew up with parents that unquestionably loved us but rarely, if ever , said it. Gail and I never said it to each other until we knew that she was sick. She was tough as nails with a heart of gold. She loved her children and wanted to insure their future. I think that she accomplished that goal.

After 1965, Gail and I never again lived in the same city. Her illness brought us closer. I loved her and she will be missed.

I worked with Gail for the past 13 years. She was very hard working and dedicated to the team, the customer, and the company. It was such a pleasure to work with her all that time. She will truly be missed by all of us. I don't know what I'm going to do without you Gail.

Remembering fun times with a sweet sister-in-law. We had so much fun on your visits to the farm; making pickles, freezing corn, seeing the sites, and shopping! Lots and lots of shopping. We had some long talks and we both believed that our life on earth is just a part of the time we have. You will always be with us! Love you!!!!

Words cannot adequately express the sadness in my heart over the loss of you, my beautiful friend. Your passing will leave an immeasurable void in my life. We didn't have enough time to carry out our bucket list plans that we had discussed so recently. I will carry your memory with me as I try to mark off items on my bucket list. I love you my friend and will see you on the other side.

Gail was a great friend from Jr. high school on. She was kind, empathetic, generous and always seeking fairness and justice. She loved people and animals and always cared for both. She was a loving and caring Mother, Grandmother, sister, niece and cousin to many. I miss her and will forever. Love you Gail. Thanks for getting me in touch with your lovely Shelby. She's a hoot!
