Galen Jones Obituary
Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 18, 2025.
Galen "Kacey" Jones passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at the age of 31, following a hard-fought year-long battle with leukemia. Kacey was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, aunt, partner, friend, and dog-mom, who nurtured deep and lasting relationships throughout her life and was unfairly taken from us much too soon.
Kacey was born in Bronxville, New York, on October 13, 1993. She grew up in Westchester County, New York, later attending high school at the Emma Willard School, in Troy, New York and Chewonki Semester School, in Wiscasset, Maine. She went on to Pitzer College, in Claremont, California, where she excelled academically, graduating with the distinction of being the outstanding Economics major in her graduating class. Kacey was also a talented athlete and musician, picking up new sports and instruments with ease, which included joining the Pomona-Pitzer Lacrosse team for a season and receiving honors as an Academic All American.
Kacey was an avid traveler and adventurer, embracing new people and experiences across five continents and 23 countries in the years following her college graduation. She started her career in Management Consulting, first in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and then in Washington, D.C. She subsequently attended Columbia Business School, pursuing her passion for TV media with a MBA in Media & Technology, and then taking on Strategy & Finance roles at Comcast Corporation and NBCUniversal in Philadelphia and Los Angeles. At the time of her death, she served as Vice President, Finance Content Strategy at Universal Studio Group. Kacey adored Los Angeles, with a zest for hiking and biking, outdoor concerts, and warm weather. Kacey fiercely upheld her beliefs, including practicing veganism for the past decade, to better the planet.
Kacey leaves behind her mother and father, Jill & Galen Jones; sister, Jennifer Jones (Bill Matczak) and brother, Christopher Jones; devoted partner, Billy Roll; grandmother, Edi Jones, as well as her beloved doggie, Isla; in addition to cherished nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends. All will deeply miss Kacey's remarkable combination of sweetness, love and loyalty; deep thinking and intellect; unvarnished truth-telling; entirely original and devilish sense of humor; infectious giggle and lifelong quest for a new mountain to climb.
A celebration of Kacey's life will be held at a later date. For those who would like to make a donation in Kacey's memory, the family suggests organizations focused on leukemia research, such as Dana Farber Cancer Institute, or those aligned to other areas Kacey was passionate about, including animal welfare and environmental stewardship & sustainability.
