He was my pediatrician from birth until I aged out at about 16. Very nice, caring funny man! My mother knew him when they both worked for the Chicago Board of Health, and when she had me he became my doctor! Will always remember him!

Dr.. Kirkpatrick was a kind and generous man. When I was very young, perhaps 12 years old, he gave me my first job filing charts in his Chicago office on Cottage Grove Avenue. I acquired a life long strong work ethic largely thanks to my experience under his tutelage and mentorship. Rest In Peace Doctor.

I am so sorry for your losses. I
Dr. Kirkpatrick was a ray of light, here in the SICU, even when he was so very ill. I thoroughly enjoyed caring for him, he touched my heart and I will never forget him, nor will I forget the immense love he expressed for his wife and children through it all. He was an inspiration to me, and still is. Best wishes. Kate P. RN SICU

In Memory... How do we say "goodbye" to someone who meant the world to us? You were always there for us to advise us and encourage us. Oh how we cherish the memory of the poems you used to recite so eloquently - "Invictus," "If," and "It Couldn't Be Done." What an impact you left on our lives! We miss you already. Love you always, "The Twins" - Marion and Brenda

I called him Uncle Garland and adored him from afar. His love and compassion was worn on every inch of his facial expression. When I spoke with him he listened to every word and understood my every thought. I loved him for that and sooooo much more. He and his wife Dorothy were spiritually in tuned and dedicated to family and children. This is what inspired me to become a Family & Children Therapist and Doctor of Sociology. He was proud of his little Rhonda and that meant the world to me. I will love Uncle Garland and his beloved wife forever. May God Bless & Keep His Children!

I can't believe you two (Dorothy and Dr.K) are gone. Dorothy was my mentor as soon as I met her many years ago when she joined the Ann Arbor Human Rights Commission. She was always supportive of me and my plight. We talked alot she was a rock. Dr. K. was most compassionate about his better half, Dorothy. May they both rest in peace and in the arms of Jesus! To the family: "Earth has no sorrow, that Heaven cannot heal." May God bless you all. Love, Christine Mays-Anderson ~Superior Township, MI

This is such sad news and you and your family are in our prayers. Dr and Mrs K were wonderful people and our children were so fortunate to have known them. You won't find a better pediatrician and Mrs. K has the biggest heart (to match that of her husband). This world is a better place because of them. They will leave a huge hole in many hearts.
I hope you can find some measure of comfort from all of your memories.
Warmest wishes,
Dan, Susan, Brandon and Alexandra Brock

May God Bless You in this time of healing. Dr. K was the most caring pediatrician I haveever had. I was sad when he retired, now I am very sad to hear of his passing. Dr. K's accomplishments speaks for themselves, but all of the lives that he touched is the testament to the man and Dr. that he was. The community has lost a true mentor and hero, but heaven and the world has gained an angel. Hopefully knowing that Dr. K is still looking over everyone will bring comfort to you. God Bless,

Dr. K was a wonderful man and pediatrician. He was always supportive and went the extra mile for his kids. When my son was struggling in school Dr. K was there to help. From taking time out to check on how he was doing to going to the school to help set up a plan that would help my son succeed. He was a help to the whole family. God bless you and your family. We are all so lucky to have had him as part of our lives and will cherish the memories.

To the family what a blessing that God gave you such a wonderful father and mentor in your life.
Dr. Kirkpatrick was not only my children's pediatrician but he was a family member. My youngest son was stricken with a virus that attacked his heart at 2yrs old. Dr. K (as my children called him) took time out of his life and went to the hospital to check on him. He also took the time to read his chart and called me at home to tell me that he felt they the hospital staff was doing everything possible to save his life. He was not only a wonderful caring doctor but a wonderful man. We will always care him in our hearts. My son is now 18yrs old and healthy. My oldest is a United States Airman. He was diffently a mentor to my children and I! I hope he realized how many lives he touched!! God bless you, The Hunt Family
