Garland R. Wilson, 75, has passed away November 29, 2008.
Garland was born March 5, 1933 in Clifton Forge, VA to William Owen Wilson and Ocea Mae Ford Wilson. He was a high school graduate and worked at various jobs. He was an outdoors person - he loved being outdoors. He loved gardening, fishing and hunting and working on his vehicles. He loved country and bluegrass music and the oldies. We came to the Biloxi area in 1978 and have remained in Biloxi ever since. He's worked in construction building Singing River Mall and Jackson Square in Gautier, etc. His last place of employment was Holiday Inn in Biloxi where he worked several years in Grounds Maintenance until an injury caused him to retire on disability. Most everyone who knew him loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Owen and Ocea Mae Wilson; 2 brothers, William "Bubby" Wilson and Cecil Wilson; 2 sisters, Eva Wilson and Mildred Staton, and maternal and paternal grandparents, and aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 41 years, Patricia Wilson of Biloxi, MS; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Cecil) Wilson, and her daughter, Brenda Wilson of Baltimore, MD; and sister, Shirley (John) Miller of Roanoke, VA; a sister, Jean (Sam) Perrin of Pennsylvania; a brother, C. Kenneth Wilson of Ocean Springs; his daughter Sherry (Larry) Nannie and children of Kentucky; various nieces and nephews; sons, Wayne Linwood Wilson, David Stanley Wilson; and daughters, Elizabeth Ann Wilson and Linda Gail Wilson, all of Kentucky.
A special thanks to our very special dear friends Fred Pechawer of Biloxi, Barbara Brady of Ocean Springs, and Tricia Allen of Gulfport. Also a very dear and special friend Micki Lindner and the special, wonderful people and pastor and congregation of her church Bethal Lutheran in Hudson, WI for all their kindness and wonderful help and prayers and contributions - I will be forever grateful to them. Also, Pastor Chris Love of the Baptist Church in Florida for all his kindness, thoughtfulness, concern, contributions and prayers but most of all his friendship.
Friends are invited to visit from 12 noon until service time at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME in Biloxi. Entombment will follow at the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
