A foundation stone of Americana, The Band was a cherished country rock band who added depth and sincerity to the style, even after backing Nobel laureate Bob Dylan. The Night they drove old Dixie Down and The Weight are now standards throughout the western world. So sad to say goodbye to the greats. Vale Garth.

My parents had the Brown Album by The Band. I grew up listening to the extraordinarily talented Garth Brooks. On film, he often seemed as one with his keyboards. He will be missed.
