Remembering Mr. Worthington with gratitude and love on the fifth anniversary of his passing. His compassion and understanding of his students will long be remembered as will his musical inspiration and great humour. He was an exceptional teacher and is greatly missed.

Garth Worthington was a truly inspirational figure to many. He was one of the very first choral conductors I was privileged to meet when I arrived in Edmonton in 1981, and I recall with much fondness singing Barbershop quartets with Garth at the home of Madge and Jack McCready. His influence on all those who had the opportunity to take music with him in High School is one of the main reasons choral music singing has had such a vibrant life in this city. He will be missed by all of us.

The world of music has lost one of its finest members. I have so many fond memories of our musical times together. Among my favourites was hearing Garth sing O Holy Night at the McKay Avenue Christmas concert every year. Each time I hear that song I will pause to thank God for having had the privilege of calling Garth a friend.
Rita and family, may you know that we all have lost something with Garth's passing, but we gained so much from him during his time with us.

I cannot put into words how much Mr. Worthington meant to me. He was the igniter of a passion for music and people the burns brightly in my heart today 30 years later. When I spoke my opinion about faith and belief his challenge sparked a lifelong search for truth and authentic belief. I was in grade four when I first met Garth and I had the privilege to sing with him along with "the old gang of mine" folk songs, hymns, barbershop and of course choral.
Good night sir... I will keep on going down the road..gonna hold my head up high. Gonna follow where the pathway leads until it reaches to the sky.
Until then, my heart will go on singing.

Sad to hear of Garth's passing. He was a great figure in the development and promotion of choral music in Edmonton. I first met Garth when he accompanied the Edmonton Centennial Singers to Expo 67 in Montreal, and have sung in other choirs under his direction over the years. A great man who helped foster the love of choral music in many young people.

Mr. Worthington was one of the greatest teachers of all time. I had the very great pleasure of being in his music class and choirs while attending Jasper Place High School from 1972-75. He was an inspiration to all who loved music and will never be forgotten.
