Garvey Winegar Obituary

WINEGAR, Garvey Lynn, age 73, of Scott County, Va., passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011. Mr. Winegar was a retired outdoor writer for the Richmond Times-Dispatch. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garvey Wallace and Mary Irene Sandidge Winegar; and his brother, Norman Bernard Winegar. He is survived by his wife, Brenda; son, Anthony Winegar and wife, Paula; daughters, Lavinia Winegar Johns and LaDonna Winegar Mowry and husband, William; grandchildren, Dylan Leitch and Amanda Winegar, all of Waynesboro, Va.; two brothers, Glen Winegar, Wayne Winegar; and his sister, Kay Hancock. A memorial service was conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011 in the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home in Weber City, Virginia. Pastor Steve Gott was the officiating clergy. The family received friends from 6 to 7:45 p.m. prior to the memorial service. In place of flowers, the family has suggested that those wishing to honor Mr. Winegar's memory to please consider making memorial contributions to the Wildlife Center of Virginia, P.O. Box 1557, Wayneboro, Va. 22980. Colonial Funeral Home, 2904 Highway 23 North, Weber City, Va. (276-386-6151) served the family of Mr. Winegar.
