I still find this hard to deal with. I never did tell Robert. I think he is better off not knowing. Gary meant so much to him.

I am heartbroken to know he's gone. I just thought to look for him on FB...He was an amazing teacher, I was lucky enough to have him twice in 1978 @Peter Marshall & 1981 @Disney. He was the best teacher ever and made a difference in my life with his kindness, patience and encouragements. He always went the extra mile with teaching real life subjects. I remember his zucchini & worm bread, it was actually good! And he taught our 6th grade class about marketing, we had to create a product then make a tv & print commercial to perform in front of class. It surely gave me a love for marketing that I still have! His heart was bigger than anyone I know. Such a wonderful person. Thank you Gary for being you & sharing yourself with so many. You are missed.

I just found out about this. I am so sad. He was my son Robert's teacher at Baden Powell for four years. What he managed to accomplish with Robert in those four years was beyond amazing. Robert loved him dearly. I don't I have the heart to tell him. I wondered why we did not get s card from him last Christmas, I shall miss those little drawings. He will be missed, but what a legacy he has left us.

Out of curiosity I was searching for all of my favorite teachers online and of course Mr. Brandenburg was on the top of that list. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I was his student in the 5th grade at Walt Disney (around 1990). He was by far the most unique, talented, and warm teachers I have ever had. We had class rabbits and they needed a home. My parents - unbelievably - agreed to let me have them. Mr. Brandenburg spent over a week in the class building a little cage (made of wood, a desktop for the door, and chicken wire) for these 2 rabbits. And when I finished my work he let me come to the back of the room and help him work on it. It's one of my favorite elementary school memories. I'm so sorry that he is gone but know that if he touched others in his life the way he touched mine just being my teacher for 1 year, then his life was just so filled with love.

Wow, I can't believe your gone. You were the best teacher. Also friends with my family thru selling Amway. You were quite the salesman for those Amway pantyhose to the teachers at Dr. Peter Marshall school back in the 70's. Rest in Peace Mr. Brandenburg fly high

Gary had such a kind heart. He made time for everyone he knew and made us all feel blessed to have known him. My sister and I were both students of Mr. Brandenburg's at Walt Disney Elementary. He became a very close friend of our family. He was the best teacher ever. His love of the arts, his personality, and his love of all the kids were unmatched. We were lucky enough to visit with him at his cabin. I still have books from elementary school that have his famous signature inside, and the self portrait he always drew of himself when he personally signed things. The stained glass window he made for me still hangs in my kitchen to this day. Mr. Brandenburg, Gary, you've left us all way too soon. You will be missed. All my love.

You know how you meet somebody and just like them right away? That's how it was with Gary. I had known John for a few years through our shared love for antiques, and always have thought he was one of the nicest, most helpful people, good-humored people I've had the pleasure to call friend. How fortunate that these two remarkable people found each other and were able to share a happy, creative life together. Tragic that it is no more, but wonderful that it was. Finding love is always a gift to be treasured, no matter for how long. I'll miss you Gary, and, John, I'll always be your friend.
