I just found out today that Gary passed away last March. I am so very sad. I wish I would have know. I apologize for not being there in person to pay my respects. Gary was more than just another volunteer. He was like part of our Families with ASD family. My kids all loved him like he was part of our family. He will be greatly missed.
Gary was one-of-a kind. I will never forget the first day he came to the Autism Center and said, "My name is Gary, and I am here to help. Put me to work." We did. Gary volunteered for many years for Families with ASD. Gary was a go-getter, and worked hard to help so many families touched by autism. It was Gary's hard work and his wheeling and dealing that helped raised funds for Families with ASD and helped us keep the autism center open for as long as we did.
Susan, and family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I wish there was something I could do, and I wish we could have know so we could have been there. Just know that we did love and appreciate him for all he did...his kindness.... his sense of humor, and all of his hard work. Also, we can't forget the handmade wooden toys he would spend countless hours making only to give them away at our annual Breakfast with Santa.
Again, so sorry for your loss.
Sincerely,
Julia Ann Smith and family
