I am so sorry for your loss. Gary was a great guy! I have been friends with Dianne for 25 years, therefore Gary too. He loved going to the casino and we all went together. I will miss that. Gary had a fun sense of humor. My love and heartfelt prayers go out to his children as well as his wife. May your loving memories give you some comfort at this time. I love you, Kathy Duart

A year and a half ago, Brandon and I moved into our first home together on Amy Lane. As we were moving in, we were greeted by Gary who was wearing his Nascar Dupont jacket (or better known as the `lifesaver´ jacket), and a cute dog named Shelby. He introduced himself and immediately offered his help saying if we needed anything he was the "tool man". Over the next week we ran into Gary and chatted with him many times. I was intrigued when he told me about his wife who rode motorcycles and had a corvette. He bragged about how awesome she was and how lucky he was to have her as his wife. I knew immediately I had to meet her and that we would all get along so well. Shelby was always by his side out front on the steps and immediately became best friends with my dog Luna, and later down the road my puppy Enzo. Every morning, I would say hello to Gary and Shelby and go out back for our dogs to play while we chatted. Sometimes we would talk for an hour or more about everything you could think of. (I may have been late for work quite a few times). He would tell me about all the trips with his sons Owen, Wesley, Jared, and Derek and how much fun he had with them growing up. All his grand dogs, Theo, Penny, Belle, and Gemma. The stories of going to Florida, New Hampshire, the kidney stone story, his son running away from bees to name a few that I have heard many times.
Gary would always tell me about how he worked two jobs while the boys were young to support his family. His nickname being "Gabby Garber". How he would always have 4+ cups of coffee before I even had my one cup at 8am when we chatted. His many stories about his mom and dad and travelling to France. He loved his dogs and especially Shelby who would ride in his car every day, would love to lounge in the grass out front, and would go crazy when you would say "Cuckoooo" in his voice. He loved to go to the Casino and how he loved Cracker Barrel. However, he did tell me his favorite restaurant changed to Fishers as it was a lot closer. Every time trees were taken down in the neighborhood, you´d find Gary watching them work, he loved the excitement.
Gary was very special to me and was always there to listen to my stories and complaints. He was my best friend or maybe since I worked from home, I could consider him my "co-worker". He would always joke when I said I had to go back to work and say, "me too". He loved to be outside and watch everything that was going on. I would always get the inside scoop on what was happening in the neighborhood and who was who. I don´t think I would´ve felt as comfortable that fast in the neighborhood if it wasn´t for Gary. When Brandon would get home, I would always say "guess what Gary and I talked about today", and it was rare if there was a day when I didn´t talk to him.
Brandon and Gary would always chat about their cars and the drag strip, and about all the cars he had over the years. Gary even convinced Brandon to put his loud muffler back on his Subaru after we had taken it off to not disturb the neighbors. Gary talked about when he was younger, he´d run from the cops for speeding, and they would know who he was immediately. Many times, I would wonder where Brandon was when taking the dog out for a walk took an hour. I would immediately go over to Gary's backyard and find them there, hearing Gary´s laugh and him joking that Brandon was in trouble. (He never was).
Amy Lane will forever hold a place in our hearts because of Gary and Dianne. We are truly lucky to have such wonderful neighbors, and I hope that everyone gets to have neighbors like them one day in their life.
Every time I look out my window over at 8 Amy Lane, I´ll remember Gary out front sitting on the steps with Shelby watching the day go by.
