LEE ROY BUTCHER, 91 of Birch River went home to be with the Lord Friday May 5,2023. He was the son of the late Richard D. and Martha Belle Carte Butcher and was born at Dille May 30,1931. After working many years in the automotive industry in Ohio and New York, he moved back to West Virginia, married the love of his life. the late Carolyn Sue Tinnel and started working in the underground mining industry, retiring from Peerless Eagle Coal Company. He enjoyed the Summersville Senior Center, Gassaway Outreach Center and My Father’s Mission at Herold. Lee Roy loved to help his community and family He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict stationed at Fairbanks, Alaska. His favorite quote was “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning to dance in the rain”. Lee Roy will be dearly missed by all that loved him, and we will all miss his stories.
He was also preceded in death by brothers Harling Oliver, George Arling and Charles Edward Butcher; sisters Lella Mae, Luella Marie, Rebecca Arthella Butcher and Lenore Butcher Kessel.

In keeping with his wishes his body was cremated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The Waters Funeral Chapel in Summersville was in charge of arrangements.
