To My Loving Brother, Gary
I was always so proud to say that you were a Marine in the Vietnam War receiving three Purple Hearts. It was a scary time for me but every time you came home on leave, I was always so grateful. You have been a great brother to me all these years, always watching over me and teasing me to the point of laughter. I will always remember that. You have always been my Rock and I am going to miss you dearly. I love You so very much. Until we see each other again. Your sister, :) Smiley (Cathy)

Uncle Gary, I'm at a lose for words yet have a thousand things left to say. I am so very grateful to have spent your last few weeks on earth with you so closely. In those weeks I felt closer to you then ever before. I felt your sadness, shared your laughter and admired your absolutely amazing strength. For this I positively know you are in Heaven enjoying Grandma Martino's delicious food in Harmony with your parents who were waiting at the Golden Gates excited to welcome you home. Dana & Joseph that is what your father wants you to know. He is no longer in pain he is not scared and wants the same for you. Not to worry or be sad to enjoy life & continue to be the beautiful children you both turned out to be! You blessed him with gorgeous, intelligent, spirited grandbabies & both married two of the most wonderful people you could ever ask for. I'm angry & sad that his life ended far to soon however I also know He had a great life full of amazing memories, accomplishments, family & friends. Uncle Gary You have inspired me to begin to live again taking in life to the fullest with grace & dignity surrounded by people you love & who love you back just the same. Thank you for being the backbone of our family in so many ways; thank you for always keeping us together every Christmas & other important events. Thank you for giving us a person to admire and learn from. Thank you for being such a great Brother to my mom (even though you never stopped teasing her lol). You have been a light that kept our loved ones who past still alive we will continue to do the same for you! I love you! Your Niece Angela

Gary was a true mensch. A week before my wedding, our cake bakery backed out. We luckily found another one but had no way to get the cakes up to our venue. Gary came through and delivered the cakes in one piece. Without him one of the best days of my life wouldn't have been as sweet. I always enjoyed spending time with him and will miss his big personality

Pam and Family, I am so sorry for your loss but comforted to hear Gary passed peacefully. Gary started as one of my many mentors at Pay-n-Save and then became a great life long friend. I don't think I ever spent time with him where he wasn't laughing and smiling. I know few other people who have hearts as large as Gary's is. Again so sorry for your loss. Rest peacefully my friend. Gary -- 1975

Hi Dana and Joe,
I am so sorry to hear about Gary.
Your Dad and I spent lots of time together, beginning in the late 70's into the early 80's.
We first met at Pay ‘n Save when he was at University Village and I was at Ballard. We became good friends and through the years grew to be close and shared many family and social times together. He loved golf then also, we played many rounds together. I'm not sure I ever beat him, but we always had a great time. I'm glad to hear he continued playing a game I know he loved.
After I moved to Northern California for Pay 'n Save in 1975, he and your mom visited us often; we explored much of the Bay Area together, especially San Francisco. The picture I've attached is of him at Marine World USA in August, 1975, which was then located about 25 miles south of San Francisco.
When I moved back to Seattle, we commuted to work together for well over a year. We ended up spending a lot of time together, as friends, inside and outside of work. Even though our career choices eventually moved us apart and I lost touch with him, I have always thought of Gary as a good friend.
Know that your Dad was well-liked and respected from young and old alike. I never knew anyone who didn't like him. I know I was lucky to have spent so much time with him and shared so many things. I regret not seeing him in recent years to rekindle our old friendship.
Again, my condolences to you, and please give my best to your mom and Pam.

Dearest Pam, Dana and Joseph, and family.
I am so so sorry for your loss, Gary was taken far too soon.
The loss of Gary as a friend makes me heart sick. Our hours of both personal and business discussions since 1983 consisted of amazing guidance and advice from Gary. Gary's good heart, intellect, wisdom, kindness and common sence will forever be with me. I really love that man as a dear friend and mentor.
Rest in peace Gary.

I've always considered Gary my best friend. We played ball together end of HS and summers as well as did all the things young men could do before going into the service. Back then he was "Teet" and I was "Goose" and we had a heck of a lot of fun. Later years when we saw each other we talked of family and he sure loved his. No better man walked this earth and I thank God I was fortunate to walk with him for a while. Love you Man.
