Gary was a fellow Ranger at Wickham Park. He was always quick with a smile, a joke and a laugh. I took this photo of him in 2020 as he escorted a couple of escapees back to their owner. Gary was well-liked by our customers, in spite of his sometimes prickly demeanor, and they would (and still) do ask for him. He cracked me up with the way he´d answer the phone: "WICKHAM PARK - MONAHAN!" He was a good dude and is gone too soon. Linda: it was very evident from conversations with Gary that he loved and respect you very much. May we all be so lucky! Please take care, Darrell

My heart goes out to my cousin Gary and his family. Big hugs to his two girls, Stacey and Kimmy, who were two peas in a pod when they were little and hanging out with my two kids.

This is on a camping trip in 1977 to Hidden Valley Lake. Pictured is Gary with his mother ( top/ shorts) Annetta May LeCompte, Monahan,Bieber and her sister Gladys LeCompte Handy. Also pictured is PopPop, Marvin Eugene Bieber "Beaver". Then we have the one with Uncle Gary, Stacey Ann Monahan ( Uncle Gary's first born) and Kimberly Erin Monahan Wailes! Then we have the chubby one in the middle and that would be me, Jennifer Lynn Watkins. Unfortunately my amazing Mother, Jane, Gary's little sister, was not with us as she had to work at the Burlington Township Police Department in New Jersey. Her and her best friend at the time, Cathy Foye, both trained and worked along side with my Uncle Gary. Mom loved getting to join the BTPD to work along side with her big brother. He was so proud of" Janie", as he called her at times. He always treated me so kindly, as if I was one of his own, knowing Mom was doing her best to succeed at her younger age and being a single mother. He made sure whenever he was around me to be a good role model along with his big hugs and kisses. I was the oldest of us three cousins. I remember visiting my cousins in Beverley, New Jersey before his big move to FL. Us three little girls would giggle and laugh spreading joy in the air and Uncle Gary would pick us up and swing us around tickling us making us laugh so hard as we were so innocent and loving little girls just wanting to see each other. I remember the first time visiting my cousins in Florida and Stacey, Uncle Gary's little shadow, straight A's kid, and his little tom boy back then, playing with a skateboard having a blast all excited to be in their new place and little Kimmy tagging along holding my hand. My Uncle Gary was cleaning, like he always did, and talking and laughing with his sister in the kitchen. He was so happy we finally moved to Florida and to have his whole immediate family there. I remember when he was studying flash cards for a mailman position and learning the street addresses when he lived close to Pop and Grandmom in New Port Richey, FL. He always had a zest for life and was not only one of the most over the top clean freaks, but he was handsome and healthy always, on top of it all was a deeply dedicated family man. I remember holidays with Uncle Gary and Uncle Denny, his brother, they would always enjoy having a beer and good laughs and joking around loudly as they could along with Pop "Beaver". He would get Grandmom all ralled up in the funniest ways to get her going and eventually she would bust a laugh out and he would hug her and go back to whatever he was doing at the moment. Us three kids/cousins looked forward to seeing each other. Unfortunately life can throw some curves and time passes so fast. I will miss my Uncle Gary very much. I know he will be at peace alongside of his mother, father, Beaver, his cousins and all his friends and pets along the way. He loved having a dog as a lot of us do. I hope his dog Spade found his way home now to Uncle Gary as he disappeared soon after his big move to Florida. I really hurt deeply knowing the loving person he truly was and he did not get to say all his goodbyes to a few immediate family members. Life is too short, check in with your people you never know what might be going on. Uncle Gary your always in our hearts.....
Sincerely, all of US.....
