Gary Morgan

A solid tree with Norwegian roots in
Americas ground has fallen.
Beeing relatives brought us together,but I feel we were good friends sharing everything in this world.
Gary had great concern and interest in his Norwegian relatives, visiting us in 1973 and 2005.
Gary remembered all our birthdays every year, and in addition sent interesting letters and emails sharing his interesting life.
I learned alot about my ancestors through Gary, and will never forget the moment in New Orleans in 1987 when Gary rolled out on the grass in a park no less than 15 feet of our common family-tree.
It now feels both right and fantastic that Gary visited Norway again this year, we all enjoyed his visit and I think he reached a new goal in his life.

I am one of the many people Gary helped with geneology. I met Gary when I was about 8 years old (I'm 36) He helped me learn so much about our heritage and how important it was. He became a pen pal to me too. I'm thankful for knowing such a talented man. I always looked forward to his Chirstmas cards but I'm sad that I kept my contact only to a Christmas card each year though. Gary will be missed.

I will miss Gary very much. It seems in life that sometimes you have a friendship that lasts a very long time. Sometimes the friendship is very short but leaves you with memories that will last a life time. Gary was one of those. I only met him in Norway in May and we became friends. I loved his wit, charm, and smile. A gentle giant he was. We kept in touch after we returned home through email and I'd find the odd Norwegian article in the mail. If you knew Gary, you will then know what I mean by "odd". He had a great sense of humour. I know I'll see Gary again one day for he only left for a moment. He has only gone into another room which is in his Father's mansion. Hope you like it Gary!

Gary sang with us at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Rice Village. We enjoyed hearing his voice and in his selections for the "First Wednesdays" at which the Choir had food and drink. Gary loved to bring a Swedish or Norwegian dish to promote his heritage. He was fun to sing with and to visit with. We will miss him.

While Gary and I had gone separate ways over the last few years, I have many great memories from our years in school and Madison Theatre Guild. Who could ever forget the impromptu pizza parties, the campouts, the card games, and his famous New Year's party at his parent’s new home on Easy Street? I still have the genealogy forms he helped me design. Gary, I hope you are able to solve all those ancestry questions now first hand. You will always have a special place in my heart, my friend.

I want to honor his big life with a small gesture. Please call me so I can make a donation in his name. We spent many hours talking about art and pets. I will miss the boom of voice and his gentle touch.

We first met Gary when my wife and Gary worked at Gray Line Tours. Gary was a person of many talents and interest. He loved to dance and act and talk about Manatech. It was always nice when his mom and dad, Kay and Homer, would visit. It was enjoyable to go out to eat and visit with them. I'll never forget Gary getting me started growing some kind of Chinese mushrooms. They just kept multiplying. I guess I never thought about Gary not being there. Now he is gone and there is a void. God be with you Gary, you are in Good Hands.

To all who knew and loved Gary,I express my sincere sympathy. Gary and I met when I helped his mother by going to Sun Prairie and giving her a massage every two weeks. When Gary would visit, it was always such a wonderful time for his mother and those friends they knew. Gary became a friend of mine very quickly because he just had a way of making friends and keeping them. I would hear from him throughout the years I knew him at least two or three times a week, usually through email and at times the post. I will forever miss his Ole and Lena mails and the wonderful cards he would send on every holiday imaginable. His sense of humor was honest and refreshing in this many faceted world we live in. We shared our fondness of travel, especially to our respective homelands via our forefathers. His being Norway and mine being Sweden. His mother got in on that as well because I first visited Sweden while she was still alive and we had many good talks about the new experiences traveling brought to life. It is hard to think that this good hearted man will no longer be sending his news and views and I will miss him. Thank you Gary for the wonderful 'you' you have always been and if you're able, say hello to Chester. A friend in Wisconsin.

Dear Morgan family,



Gary was a good friend of mine and he will truly be missed. He had a heart to help people and even so much as to sacrifice himself for the welfare of others. He and Art would go out and celebrate other peoples special occassions just so they could go out and celebrate. He'd do it in their honor. He loved trying new restaurants and he introduced me to the Cheesecake Factory. He really enjoyed being in the choir at his church especially at Christmas time. He was very knowledgeable about many things and challenged my intelligence. He was very proud of his Norwegian heritage and I think a highlight for him was going to Norway. He used Norwegian language in his emails to me like Uff dah! Whenever he came to see me on his trips to Wisconsin he always brought me something and one time he brought me an orchid from his orchid collection in the summer and he was very concerned that it arrived alive. He touched many peoples lives in different ways and he will be missed. May God Bless you with peace.
