Gary Gilbert Omdahl, 81, of Toddville, died Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, following a short illness with cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2025, at Springs of Life Church, 1001 E 3rd St., Anamosa, by Pastor Mark Ortgies. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home, and on Friday at the church after 9:30 a.m.
Gary is survived by his significant other, Claudette Becker; three children, Gary Slager, James Hughes and Wendy Hughes; stepson, Kerry (Lisa) Becker; 3 grandchildren, Tabitha (Allan) Bleich, Skylar (Amber) Hudson, and Rocky (Faye) Smith; five great-grandchildren, Kameron Smith, Jordan Bleich, Jackson Hudson, Brayden Nolan and Bellamy Hudson.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Sheena Stoner; stepdaughter, Valencia Stoner; sister, Diane Beyer; and stepfather, Clifford Beyer.
Gary was born on March 1, 1943, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Heino and Elaine Wetzel Omdahl. He graduated from high school in Deerbrook, WI in 1961. Gary was an over-the-road trucker for many years.
Since 1974, Gary spent time restoring a 1960 G model Mack truck. He enjoyed being on the road as a truck driver and mowing the lawn. Gary was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR, often watching their events on television. He cherished spending time with his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Gary was so old school he was pre school he was an original. Glad I stopped and seen him in the nursing home and had one last story together. RIP LEGAL EAGLE
