The first time we met was back in 1981. My family had a bar and restaurant in Exeter, Pa. He stopped in for lunch, between visiting his stores. He was so sweet, and handsome. A very kind man. It was as if we had been friends forever. R.I.P. my friend. You are missed.

To the Redner family,
I was so sorry to hear of your loss. I will never forget the kindness your family showed when my best friend Richard died. Gary was a kind soul and wouldn't hurt anyone. Your family is in my prayers now and always. The person(s) who did this have taken away a person who is loved and will be missed. I know the first people to greet gary in heaven were Mary Redner,Richard, and other family members. GOD bless your family in this time of deepest sorrow.

Safely Home
I am safely in heaven, dear ones; Oh , so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light, All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, Safely home in heaven at last. And He came himself to meet me In the way so hard to tread; And with Jesus' arm to lean on, Could I have one doubt or dread? Then you must not grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly still; Try to look beyond earth's shadows, Pray to trust our Father's will.
Sending our thoughts and prayers store 41

March 13, 2008
I worked for the Redner’s approximately 30 years ago back in the late 1970s. I started at Leesport and later was moved to the 3rd and Buttonwood St. warehouse when it first open. I worked with Gary there when we were both in our early 20s. We worked hard and had great times in that warehouse. I remember it being empty in the beginning. I remember new hand trucks arrived to use for moving the skids for the future inventories coming in. I remember Gordon coming out of the office when Gary and I were raising a little hell racing those hand trucks around the warehouse as fast as we could go. Sparks were flying from spinning them around in circles. I don’t think Gordon saw that…. He just stood there with his mouth open and said something like “ Do you know what your father would say “ The warehouse was nearly empty so we could really fly. …..What can I say? ..Boys will be boys and no harm was done. When the tractor trailer trucks came in we got serious and unloaded those trucks. Gary worked just as hard as everyone else did. Side by side. Some of those trucks were loaded full with heavy sugar. I remember one truck we unloaded by hand before we had the hand trucks. That one was one long hard job. I couldn’t work like that today but hard work builds character. Then came BIG JOE the battery operated hand truck…..We rode that one around too….I remember Pat puffing on his cigar having us unload a train car full of I believe it was either dog food or charcoal with the Tow Motor. We had to lay sheets of plywood down so the tow motor wouldn’t get stuck in the dirt since it wasn’t equipped with air tires. We started with 2 pieces of plywood. We had to move the tow motor over the plywood one sheet at a time. We’d drag the sheet we just drove over from the back to the front until we got to level asphalt to get back to the warehouse. Then had to lay them down again to get back to the train car to get another skid off in order to get another piece of plywood. The plywood was used to separate the double stacked skids from falling into each other during shipment. What a job that was. It was all part of the learning process of moving the product anyway you could. Gary was always a hard worker when it came time to work.
Approximately 30 years ago Gary sold me his grandmothers china cabinet when he lived in a house off of River Road and I still have it in our dinning room to this very day.
Gary was a good guy and I know Gary will be missed by many people in all walks of life. What a sad day and an enormous loss to our society. A tragic loss of a of a good hearted and sincere human being.
I ran into Gary a few times over the years and he was always very personable. Always took a few minutes to exchange a few words in his very busy schedule. You could pick up the conversation right where you had left off with him after many years had passed.
I was totally shocked to hear of Gary’s passing. It was the 1st thing I heard when I awoke to the news on the radio in the morning before work. What a brutal and senseless act to committed against any fellow man and what kind of hardened cold people are roaming around on this planet ?
I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. My prayers are with you, your family and friends
Sincerely
Brian R Trump.

A Reminiscence
YES, thou art gone! and never more
Thy sunny smile shall gladden me;
But I may pass the old church door,
And pace the floor that covers thee.
May stand upon the cold, damp stone,
And think that, frozen, lies below
The lightest heart that I have known,
The kindest I shall ever know.
Yet, though I cannot see thee more,
'Tis still a comfort to have seen;
And though thy transient life is o'er,
'Tis sweet to think that thou hast been;
To think a soul so near divine,
Within a form so angel fair,
United to a heart like thine,
Has gladdened once our humble sphere.
