COME WITH ME
God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So He put His arms around you
And whispered `Come with Me.´
With tearful eyes
We watched you suffer
And saw you fade away,
Although we loved you dearly
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove
He only takes the best.
It´s lonesome here without you,
We miss you more each day,
Life doesn´t seem the same
Since you´ve gone away.
When days are sad and lonely
And everything goes wrong,
We seem to hear you whisper
`Cheer up and carry on.´
Each time we see your picture,
You seem to smile and say
`Don´t cry, I´m in God´s keeping
We´ll meet again someday.´
You never said `I´m leaving´,
You never said goodbye,
You were gone before we knew it,
And only God knew why.
A million times we needed you,
A million times we cried,
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we love you still ,
In our hearts you hold a place,
That no one could ever fill.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn´t go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day God took you home.

I first met Gary in 1978. The last time I heard from him was a birthday wish shortly before he passed. 46 years of friendship.
You know you have a true friend
when time and distance cannot
break your bond.
May you be as blessed in the next life,
my friend,
as I was in this one by knowing you.

Gary´s humor reveled..........His Great Falls High School friends Phil Faccenda and I were seeking donations for replacement historic windows at GFHS. Phil and I got approval from the school district to replace windows as a demonstration project as long as it did not cost the tax payers. We were successful with the first batch in the library and donors for a window got a small brass plaque on the window sill with their name on it. Gracious Gary wanted to donate the thousands for a replacement window. But on only two conditions, it had to be in a girl´s bathroom and his name must be spelled correctly on the plaque. Sadly, our demonstration project concluded so his window was not implemented. Darrell Swanson

"Friendship" sums it all up with Gary.
For many years now, I've been blessed to have Gary as a best friend.
Almost every morning without fail, we shared a short text or chat or political meme and then something about a car I found I found online.
Our discussion would always revolve around what day next week we would meet for breakfast at the Buffalo restaurant up by Gary's house in Whitefish.
I can't remember a birthday party or graduation party for our family or our two children or my wife's nonprofit fundraiser that didn't have Gary be in attendance.
Last year he even told me "with a big smile" that this was the first baby shower he'd ever attended, for our daughter.
Gary always will be my best of friends, one to be celebrated, one to be cherished, and one to brag about and one worth having.
I will carry you in my heart and travels bud.
God's speed Gary.
