Gary Robert Williams passed away peacefully at Powell River, BC, September 28, 2015 at the age of 57. Gary was born December 7, 1957 in Calgary. He graduated with a BSc in Pharmacy from the University of Alberta in 1979, and started his career as a pharmacist at Woolco, eventually moving on to Walmart and Canada Safeway. He enjoyed cycling, walking with family members and was an avid Formula One racing fan. His inquisitive mind meant he was constantly reading; everything from history, biography, science fiction, even the dictionary, and the knowledge he gained was always shared at our family gatherings. For many years, Gary was actively involved in the sport of skeleton and he competed for Canada on the international race circuit. His dedication and contribution to the Alberta Skeleton Association was also recognized and appreciated. One of Gary's proudest moments was his first place finish in the 1992 Canadian Skeleton Championships. Gary is survived by his parents Jim and Helen Williams; his three siblings John (Heather), Lori Sahebkar (Masoud) and Alan; as well as niece Parvoneh; and nephews Kaveh and Eric. A private family gathering will be held to remember Gary. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Mustard Seed Street Ministry, 102 – 11 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 0X5, Telephone: (403) 269-1319, www.theseed.ca. In living memory of Gary Williams, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

I am very sad to hear of Gary's passing. One of "the old boys" of the sport that helped develop Skeleton into the sport it is today. RIP Gary & condolences to his family & many friends.
