Gaston TESSIER Obituary
Gaston passed away peacefully on Thursday October 11, 2012 at the age of 72. Son of Conrad Tessier and the late Georgette Duquette. Beloved husband of Madeleine Tessier. Dear brother of Micheline (Paul Madore). He will be sadly missed by his in- laws : Fernand Guimond, Gilles Guimond (Lise Longtin), and Marie-Mance (Sylvie Marineau). He will also be missed by his nephews and nieces: Eric, Julie, André, Chantal, Tina, Michelle and Serge, his grandnephews, his grandnieces and many friends. Gaston started his biology career at the Canadian Museum of Nature. He later joined the Canadian Wildlife Service and retired after 36 years of service. At retirement, Gaston decided to share his passion for gardening and obtained his diploma from the University of Guelph as a Master Gardener. Through the Canadian Wildlife Federation and the Gloucester Horticultural Society, he was able to share his knowledge of the fauna and flora of Canada. The family would like to thank all the staff from the Montfort Hospital, CCAC Agency and Dr. L. Aldridge for their excellent care. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday October 20, 2012 at 9:30 at Notre- Dame-de-Lourdes de Vanier Church. The family will receive condolences at 9 a.m. In Memory of Mr. Tessier, donations to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. C'est avec beaucoup de tristesse que nous avons appris le décès de Gaston. Nous connaissions sa condition et sa détermination, nous étions convaincus qu'il trouverait le moyen de prolonger sa vie sur terre. Nous sommes heureux de l'avoir rencontré, de l'avoir connu et d'avoir pu l'apprécier pour ses grandes qualités. I didn't have enough time at Master Gardener activities to really get to know Gaston well, sadly, but enough to realize the great loss that family and friends will feel. His reputation as a tremendous gardener and wildlife expert was well deserved, but his personal qualities like gentle good humour and sense, devotion to family, and many many others will be most missed, I think.

Chère Madeleine,
C'est avec un immense chagrin que j'ai appris le décès de Gaston. Quelle perte!
Même si nous nous sommes perdus de vue au cours des années, je pensais souvent à vous deux en me commémorant de merveilleux souvenirs, tels le folklore, nos séjours de fin de semaine au chalet dans des températures nordiques et surtout notre voyage en France, etc.
Gaston était une personne que j'affectionnais tout particulèrement pour sa bonne humeur, sa grande joie de vivre et sa générosité sans borne. Je lui envoie de gros bisous!

Les amis de Gaston du centre des aines de Gloucester se souviennent de Gaston qui fut un membre et un Vice-President de notre centre. Notre centre etant un centre "officiellement" anglephone voici ce que l'on m'a demande de vous dire (le logiciel de ce programme ne me permet pas de mettre des accents): "He was a darn good guy - we miss him and are very sorry to hear about him passing away. Gaston left us way too soon. He was such a multi-talented yet humble man, a genuinely kind, humerous, and loving person. I'll always remember my cousin Gaston as an adventure seeker, passionate about all of life's wonders, as well as the devoted "Papa" of our planet's fauna and flora. I am blessed to have shared so many wild & wonderful experiences with Gaston. My deepest sympathy goes to Mado and her family, Micheline's family and Oncle Conrad.

It came as a shock to me to hear at GHS's Monday night meeting of Gaston's passing. Please accept my deepest condolences to your and your family.
He was a very kind and caring person. During my 3 years as GHS secretary while he was president I learned alot from him. I also appreciated his support and advice to me when I had to deal with my late mother's health issues. I have been very blessed to know him. He will be missed alot by many. Take comfort in all the trips and excursions that you made together.
