Gavin Edward Rush, 41, passed away at home on November 30, 2022 in Austin, Texas. Gavin was born in Hereford, Texas to Dana Gavin Rush and Trudy Ailene Murray Rush on June 27, 1981. He graduated from Bastrop High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree at Tulane University and his Juris Doctrine at Loyola University College of Law.
Gavin was an attorney in Austin, Texas. Gavin lived life to the fullest, loved his family fiercely and will be dearly missed by all. He enjoyed golf, soccer and playing with his nephew, Patek Kriner.
He is survived by his loving mother, Trudy A. Rush of Bastrop, Texas; his sister, Jennalyn Rush Gober, her husband, Heath and nephew Patek P. Kriner of Buda, Texas. He is preceded in death by his father, Dana Gavin Rush; his grandparents, Dr. Clyde E. Rush and Doris Rush and Robert B. Murray, Sr. and Shirley Murray; his uncle, Gary Eugene Murray; his aunt, Lani Rush Long and cousin, Eric Waltersheid.
He is also survived by his Grandmother, Elinor Murray Cofield of Dover, Delaware; Aunts and Uncles: Judy Wechtenhiser (husband Robert), Milford, Delaware; Robert B. Murray (wife Dona), Hereford, Texas; Nancy Hess, Port St. Lucie, Florida; Rosalind Rush Dees, (husband Joe), House Springs, Missouri; Shelley Burelsmith (husband Larry) Lubbock, Texas; and Santry Rush (wife Paula), Green Valley, Arizona. Cousins: Olivia Murray, (partner Nicolette), New Bern, North Carolina; Jacob Murray (wife Sarah), Valencia, California; Joseph Murray (wife Danielle), Hereford, Texas; Nicholas Wechtenhiser (wife Amber), Lincoln, Delaware; Justin Wechtenhiser (wife Jenn), Seaford, Delaware; Santry G. Rush (wife Juli), Houston, Texas; Rachel Rush, Washington, DC; Debra Waltersheid (wife of Eric Waltersheid, deceased), Amarillo, Texas; Kent Waltersheid (wife Angie), Prosper, Texas; Kristen Will (husband David), Amarillo, Texas; Jason Waltersheid (wife Callie), Panhandle, Texas; Valerie Conner (husband Jeff), Round Rock, Texas; Camille Holcomb (husband Jeff), Fort Worth, Texas; Ethan Burlesmith, Lubbock, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

I am so sorry for your loss. Gavin was truly a gifted and talented student. It was my honor to be his band director. His presence was always accompanied by a bright smile, his quick wit and his enthusiastic energy. His determination and dedication served him well beyond high school and in becoming a successful attorney. His memory as my student has been shared with several, as I continue my teaching endeavors. In his own unique way, he and the two of you have a special memory in my heart. May God’s peace be with you as I thank Him for the enrichment of my life thru Gavin and the Rush family.
