My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there is a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.

My condolences to the family, wonderful memories of Gaylerd and his leather work, his friendship with my late husband, Marshall. I still have the saddle he made for me. "Light enough so I can throw it on the horse" which drove him crazy.

This morning I received a kind note from Mrs. Thissell, advising me of Gaylerd's passing. Touched that she took the time to contact me, I called her and we talked for awhile. I first met the Thissell's when, almost forty years ago, my father consigned a stock horse saddle for me for my 16th birthday. About two years ago, something told me to reach out to Mr. Thissell , in hopes of getting one more beautiful saddle. Well, I am honored to say that I own Gaylerd Thissell's last handcrafted saddle... A true work of art! The best part though, was rekindling a friendship with them when I visited. I loved to hear the stories of their life together so much I almost forgot about the saddle! Every time I step on a horse, I will think of them. Thank you for sharing your time and stories with me... you all had a great life and those memories are the greatest gift ...meant to be shared. Thank you for choosing to share them with me. Many blessings ahead Mrs Thissell... see you soon! Happy trails to you, Gaylerd... you will be missed!

Gaylerd was always so sweet. We are proud to own one of his cutting horse saddles. He even designed and created for me a cover for my insulin pump which I wore totally out after many years. Our deepest condolences to all the family.

A good, kind man and an excellent artist whom I am going to miss seeing and talking to.

Geylerd became a good friend after he married my good college friend Merdithe. Melvin and I so enjoyed visiting with him. He was an amazing artist and such a kind gentle man. He will be missed so very much, and it was a truly pleasure to have known him.
