Geertje Vander Kooi Obituary
Mom filled her life with family and friends. She always offered her help and loved playing games with them all. Mom also saw God's beauty in nature, loved the mountains and would often say, don't forget to smell the roses and count your many blessings. Many were blessed by her sweet smile, quick wit, kindness and love for all. She stole the hearts of everyone, calling them all by her favorite endearment, "HONEY".
Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children Stuart (Shirley), Gary (Flo), Linda (Glen) and David (Fran); 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; her brother Klaas (Sjoukje) in Holland and many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Dirk, daughter Jean, son-in-law Pat and grandson Tim.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Cornerstone Christian Reformed Church, 9800 McNaught Road; Rev. Bill Veenstra officiating. Mom will be laid to rest in Chilliwack Cemeteries.
Special thanks to the nurses and doctors at both Chilliwack Hospital and Cascade Hospice for all your kind and gentle care during Mom's time there.
Memorial donations may be made in Gay's name to Ruth and Naomi's Mission.
Arrangements under the direction of Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, Chilliwack, BC.

My name is Henrietta Pannett, Gay's hairdresser for twenty-five years. She is one of the sweetest woman I have ever met. Always greeted you with a beautiful smile, having a heart of gold. Looking for ways to help and so appreciated everything you did for her. I was so blessed to spend time doing her hair and great time visiting with her, such a JOY. She was a true example of letting Christ's love shine through her. I will always have fond memories. A true great lady. I always tried to make her look like the Queen. Your family was very blessed to have such a kind hearted Mother and Grandma. Love and condolences to you all from Roger and Henrietta.

Grandma was a true farmer at heart. When we asked her to milk cows, she would say "If you only milked as many cows as I did, Honey." We knew she use to milk 13 cows by hand. What a hard working lady!

Never had the pleasure of meeting with Grandma - but have heard so many loving comments about her in the last several years that I feel I knew her personally. To Fran and the extended family we would like to express our sincere condolences. I will remember Gramma as such a sweet lady. She will be greeting many people in Heaven with a "Hello Honey". She will be truly missed here on earth, but she is in a wonderful place where she can hear and join in on the angels' singing. I will always remember her sitting on my back deck just looking around at the cows and the mountains with a big smile and saying "it looks just like home". Well now she truly is HOME. With Love,

Lieve Familie. Gecondoleerd met het overlijden van tante Geertje. Onze familie heeft het verloop van het ziekbed met spanning gevolgd en het heeft helaas niet meer ten goede mogen keren. Veel sterkte met het verwerken van dit verlies.
