Genaro Vargas Ochoa was born on January 24, 1924 in Jerome, Arizona. He lived there till the age of six, then his family moved to Hanford, California. He lived in Hanford until he joined the Navy in 1942 at the age of seventeen. He was first stationed in Barnstaple, England, Normandy in 1944, then in the South of France. He remained in Okinawa until the end of the war in Japan occupation duty until November, 1948.He returned to Hanford until 1950 and reenlisted for three years during the Korean War. He returned to Hanford again and remained until 1965. He was a lineman for Pacific Gas and Electric. Then he, his wife Frances, and children moved to Boswell. He lived the rest of his life, 49 years, in Boswell. He retired from Campbell Soup where he worked as an instrument repairman. After retirement, he did oil painting, worked in his vineyard and helped at the school with the Spanish speaking children.
Mr. Ochoa was affiliated with St. Jude's Catholic Church of Boswell and a member of the VFW. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances (Hendrix) Ochoa; a daughter, Carolyn Billingsley; son in law, Raybon Burns; great grandson, River Burns; a brother, Samuel Ochoa; sisters, Emma Ochoa Flores, Rebecca Ochoa Koch, and Beatrice Ochoa Medina.
SURVIVORS INCLUDE: two sons, Thomas A. Brents and wife Beverly of Rufe, OK and Miles Robert Kerr and wife Argy of Boswell, OK; five daughters, Marjorie Ellen Eastwood and husband, Bruce of Boswell, OK, Teresa Burns of Boswell, OK, Claudia Riley and husband, James of Clarksville, TN, Felicia McAnaney and husband, Steve of Pottsboro, TX and Nancy Ochoa of Whittier, CA; two brothers, Albert Ochoa and Willie Ochoa, both of California; one sister, Cecilia Maguire of Oklahoma City, OK; 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.
VISITATION: the family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at St. Jude Catholic Church, Boswell, OK followed by a family Mass officiated by Father Joseph Chirayath
